I didn't Vel, but I wish I had.

A very, very Happy Christmas to you and yours.
Report annie. • December 24, 2009 5:34 PM GMT
I tore the info out of the racing post and put it on my desk. I then started playing poker and forgot all about it. Really annoyed with myself. However, they are bound to show it again. Cecil is my hero.

Happy Christmas, folks.

Yes, Mr.Cecil didn't let us down. He said he'd never trained a genuine horse with small ears - Oh So Sharp had big ears, just like Arkle! He's not too keen on people with eyes too close together, or thin, wirey types like "something's eating away at them."

Bosra Sham had terrible feet and he only had her right once...Indian Skimmer was never really trained to the max...he forgot Old Vic's name at one point...

His dog nipped the Queen when she visited Warren Place. The Queen remarked on his collection of toy soldiers, pipers and knights, and Henry said, "The only knight I don't have is Sir Michael Stoute."

I remember reading Henry Cecil's autobiography years ago, and laughing out loud a few times. Another two hours would have been fine, here. What a man.

C'mon Queen - give him the knighthood he deserves.
Report bodil • December 24, 2009 8:40 PM GMT
I've got big ears, Vel.
Report Ibrahima Sonko • December 24, 2009 9:32 PM GMT
It would make my christmas if Sir henry was knighted, i will have to buy his book very soon.
Report HRH The Lager Khan • December 24, 2009 9:35 PM GMT
Agree with Sonko and Velasquez re the knighthood. Plenty of much less deserving and achieving 'Sirs' around. The man is a genius, and what makes him all the more admirable is he kept his dignity when things were going wrong.
Report annie. • December 24, 2009 9:38 PM GMT
I have never understood why Stoute is knighted for charitable works, but Cecil is not knighted for services to horseracing. I have always had a soft spot for Cecil and I think men can take heart from this as he is not really attractive but he is a gentleman in all senses of the word.
Report Ibrahima Sonko • December 24, 2009 9:52 PM GMT
A gentleman who makes you listen is way above looks imo.

Hopefully atr repeat it.
Report here we go again • December 24, 2009 10:01 PM GMT
one of the best bits was . he said trainers are **ing when they run horses over 5f when they should be running over 1m 4f , he said that when they run over 5f there ability is an official mark of 50 but when they run over there proper distance of 1m4f they end up rated 95 !! he asked matt of any trainer doing this . matt couldnt think of any 1 , bet sir mark isnt on henrys crimbo list
Report Slippy Blue • December 24, 2009 10:12 PM GMT
Henry Cecil is my hero, how he has never been knighted is a national disgrace. The 40 somethings that are on here now grew up with Henry putting out the relentless winners with Steve Cauthen on board. When asked who was his best filly Henry replied, Oh So Sharp was quite good. Love the man.
Report annie. • December 24, 2009 10:15 PM GMT
Totally agree, here we go again. For years we have been fed the tripe that how great Sir Mark is as a trainer. He has rarely trained anything of merit considering the material at this disposal. He is only fit to train handicappers that he has obtained a good mark for by running over the wrong distances.
Report Ibrahima Sonko • December 24, 2009 10:18 PM GMT
Henry is a man who came back again, certain owners showed proper loyalty and their colours will be remembered by many. The those owners got rewarded, we are just missing a narchious super horse.

If i ever grow up i want to be like sir henry.

To be fair I cannot think of any occasion when Prescott has been compared to Henry.Henry is in a different league and everyone knows that all ready

Report Slippy Blue • December 24, 2009 10:32 PM GMT
Ibrahima Sonko, Rishi did indeed truly disgrace himself that day but he went on the horse racing forum on Betfair afterwards to apologies so I give him credit for that. Many others would have dodged it..

Absolute proof that annie is male or a lezzer... every woman I know who follows racing thinks henry is an absolute lovegod whose babies they would willingly have...

annie falls into the male trap of equating looks with attraction imo ;)

Suspect they are too old to have babies, if that makes you feel better.

You should be shot. To restore the equilibrium.
Report annie. • December 24, 2009 11:45 PM GMT
You are confusing being sexy with looks, tevez. I said he was not attractive to me physically, but, like your friends, I find him very fanciable. Men are extreemly lucky that we can find them sexy even if they are not physically attractive.

I hope that you are one of only a few that still think I am a man, or a lesbian. I have been with women but it was curiosity, not need. I do not fancy women at all.
Report Velasquez • December 24, 2009 11:46 PM GMT
You must be the genuine type, Bodil - but perhaps you've gone a bit sour due to reckless and cruel treatment at the hands of bad humans...like, they fed you mouldy oats and nuts and whipped yer to make you go faster...
Report Velasquez • December 24, 2009 11:50 PM GMT
When he was young, Cecil had a strange face, but I had a girlfriend who would have found him sensationally attractive - her hot list was topped by Spock and Lurch from the Addams Family.

I think Chelsea Davy looks like a female version of a young Cecil...btw, Cecil's mother was a very beautiful woman.
