Canaryboy, have they got wooden flooring upstairs? Sometimes people replace the carpet with wooden flooring and the sound is transmitted. It is usually in the lease that they have to have carpet, not wooden flooring. Although that is in a converted flat, usually.

hmmm well this is a sort of purpose built block with 4 upstairs and 4 downstairs. the walls seem very thin throughout which is the only annoyance but basically the girl upstairs has been a nightmare. well it is xmas holidays. not sure if they have carpet or not but may well have to say something cos the thudding when she runs about is a nightmare. there are other thuds too which can't be running so no idea wtf they are doing up there. it's been silent for a bit now so hopefully that's that but really don't want it going on tomorrow as will be here. it's like you can hear every movement they make.

When I moved into my present flat I could hear them above me nearly all the time. It was lucky as I had to gut the place anyway, so I soundproofed the whole flat. It has been a very good selling point as everyone seems to have a noisy neighbour story.

this is the first time i've ever had any problem

either lived in detached places or had silent neighbours

it's just the kid that's a problem really
