This isn't to knock the traditionalists but does anyone REALLY enjoy "xmas dinner"?

I'm no huge fan of turkey and sprouts make me vomit so it's never been a fav time of year for me foodwise.Seems all so stressfull for people cooking the dinner all day and rushing about then the mountain of washing up.And truth be told i bet about 75% of the country have a terribly cooked mish mash of slop.

I've pre ordered a full spread from Marks and Spencer, just gotta pick it up at 3pm and that's xmas dinner sorted.Thankfully all i need to is put it all out with a few bottles of shampoo and start drinking about 11am ready for casual drop in's.Not cheap but relaxation is the order of the day.

Whats the routine for other chit chatters? anyone jus not bother at all?

My mum is a fantastic cook and I cannot wait to sample her moist meat, perfect roast potatoes and vegetables etc.

Yes. Then again I get christmas dinner at my mums house so she cooks it all and I do nothing but enjoy it, being the lazy and ungrateful feck that I am.
Report ReaseHeath • December 23, 2009 7:47 PM GMT
not stressful for me as I go to my brother's and they do all the cooking.I love the meal except for sprouts which literally make me gag - always clear my plate as a point of honour though.

So the first 3 replies are all from lazy feckers. :)

i drive 1.5hrs each way to visit rellies, only for them all to fall asleep in front of the tv after eating, at which point i quietly get up and go. but the bloke who does the meal runs a catering company so the food is always top notch.

Yes, roast potatoes and pigs in blankets with a bit of gravy and bread sauce is delightful
Report SuperSuperShire • December 23, 2009 7:48 PM GMT
I enjoy a christmas meal, except for the turkey part. Only meat I cannot stand. I'll eat it just so that I'm not the odd one out in the family.

my journey is about the same gvl - at 7.0 pm I make the excuses and leave so I can get home and study form for Boxing Day.

No i don't, i hate Sunday roast too. But my mum is a brilliant cook. I'd rather she did one of her other specialities.

Sprouts are the best way to remember the suffering of others less fortunate at christmas. For the few seconds they are in your mouth, you'd happily swap with a hungry Ethiopian - even with Lenny Henry visiting for Children In Need.

What a bizzare post? why on earth would anyone lie about hating sprouts..i for one would instantly vomit if i ate one hardly a big deal though. You should perhaps watch your language though old thing, always talk on here as if you were face to face i say.

The food is OK, don't really like Turkey much but the chicken is good and the Pork Crackle too.

What I don't look forward to is all the drunk relos :| My father especially.
Report Ronaldinho's dentist • December 23, 2009 8:34 PM GMT
love the lot, including the sprouts! one of the nice things is if there is loads left you can have it all for bubble and squeak the next day
Report 2smiggy • December 23, 2009 8:35 PM GMT
