The government have passed an analogue law banning incense blends which comes into effect from midnight.

A sad day for all involved.

They will now be a classified B drug :(

They can try and fight a losing war all they want, but its always going to be a losing war. The sooner they accept the fact that there is always going to be a big demand for recreational drugs, the sooner they manage to regulate, tax and educate sensibly.
So people now cannot buy 'herbal' ecstasy from shops with BZP content. Are these people now going to suddenly stop recreational drugs or are they going to be forced to look for alternatives from criminal drug dealers who can only benefit from this ruling.

It's sad that our young population are so juvenile they need drugs to keep themselves amused. I think a lot of it is lack of self confidence. Maybe they are ashamed of who they are, so they use drugs to 'expand' their minds. Ignoring the fact most of them only do it because their mates/celebrities do it. Booze included

Legalisation and regulation is the only way to beat the drug lords and stop the corruption associated with the international drug trade. It will also raise taxes, free-up police resources, reduce strain on the NHS from problems associated with contaminated drugs, etc, etc. There are many benefits from legalisation and no significant down-side imo.

I think alcohol and tobacco are evidence enough of the appeal of recreational drugs, Ron.

As Robert Anton Wilson said, the current prohibition on drugs is an experiment unique in human history. Humans throughout the world have used drugs for a variety of purposes (including recreation) for thousands and thousands of years. Drugs have been the catalyst for some of our finest art (includng music, literature, etc) and most transcendent spiritual and philosophial ideas. Even materialist scientists like Carl Sagan found inspiration in marijuana.
