Have to say Joe is talented but not special, cant see him being different to any of the other flash in the pans.

jls will be around for a long while(imo) will released some great songs, and leona well you agreed with that one
even look at girls aloud

gareth gates had some good songs, now starring as joseph..
im sure there are more but cant think right now..
Report evski • December 21, 2009 9:36 AM GMT
Those who have it? Will young has sold a few records and probably the best voice of them all, leona lewis has sold out on her dream of being a song-writer and produces the dreadfu,l vacuous cr@p that is the hallmark of Cowell. And JLS, are you seriously saying you think they are really talented?

What I wonder is who, in 20 or 30 years time will be the pop legends like the stones, The Beatles, David Bowie, U2, Queen, Rod Stewart, Elton John, ect. Even in the 80's most of the pop acts like Duran Duran, Erasure, bla bla bla were all organically formed. Engineering pop was done but it wasn't dominating every week.

Would Andy murray have given ugly poofs like freddic mercury or elton john a chance? Unless singers are good looking they have bugger all chance of being sent through to the latter stages because that is not what cowell is after.
Report evski • December 21, 2009 9:40 AM GMT
what do you look for in a song andy? ALL of these artists are given easy-listening songs that are deviod of any hidden meaning. There is no second dimension and there is no clever word-play, they are written by clever song writers to make them so generic that anyone can relate to something in the song i.e. being hurt/being in love/being alone that is it. What do you find so exciting about this?
Report Andy Murray • December 21, 2009 9:48 AM GMT
fyi, i love queen and elton.. a bit of phil collins..i like some beatles songs.. the list can go on and on etc etc any sort of pop infact.. songs grow on me

I find it hard to explain what i like in songs.. first off i much prefer a male voice to a female voice(although i do still like female singers, whitney, mariah etc etc)
I find songs with different tunes to them, like key changes, such as in a lot of take thats new songs..
lyrics arent as important to me as the tune is, although something i can't stand is a racket where you cant understand the lyrics they are singing

I really just love any type of pop music.. take lady gaga for example.. couldnt stand her music, but bad romance has really grown on me
Report Andy Murray • December 21, 2009 9:50 AM GMT
why do you need hidden meanings in a song? my friend loves one vision, because it ends in fried chicken
whats so good about that? chucking in random words doesnt make a song good
Report digdeep • December 21, 2009 9:52 AM GMT
Will any of the X-Factor winners be taken seriously in 20 years time,no chance, conveyer belt lightweight tosh.
Report evski • December 21, 2009 9:57 AM GMT
Like books, a pop song can just be one dimensional and tell a straight story. You can listen to it and it is not offensive but it's not a difficult skill which is why it is so prevalent. Great songs make us think, it doesn't have to be political, but these songs written for pop idol winners are generic and in no way personal to the singer. Like a great book makes a political point or tells us something about the human condition we had not previously sonsidered, or make us see things from a different point of view.

What would you say the chances of Joe relesring anything other than mindless ballads are?
Report digdeep • December 21, 2009 10:00 AM GMT
The same as Harrow Borough winning the Premiership.
Report Andy Murray • December 21, 2009 10:06 AM GMT
but then why cant my opinion of music be the right opinion(not that there is a right one)
but surely if it wasnt successful they wouldnt keep producing these songs and singers

and why cant a winner of a talent contest be successful?
JLS were formed before the x factor, why are they manufactured.. what does that even mean?
i like some nice easy listening songs
