I do believe its a collective noun for manly straight men who partake and enjoy "gay" ish activities/pastimes.

An example of some young gayer "things " are prnted below.

Hangng out in coffee bars/drinking cappunucinos.

Dressng like a member of a boy band

Watching things like Dr Who and enjoyng programs made for women

Wearing scarves

Going to the cinema with their same sex mate

Calling Football "footy"

Having platonic female friends
