Never tip them.

Might tip a waiter, but all they do is bring it to your house.

You dont tip the postman do you?
Report salsabil5 • December 19, 2009 4:45 PM GMT
good fing...any tip is a plus
Report shergarburger • December 19, 2009 4:46 PM GMT
its a good thing...they get paid peanuts and rely on tips
Report Andy Murray • December 19, 2009 4:46 PM GMT
never thought of it like that, but then you dont have to come face to face with the postman and hand him money
Report Brodie • December 19, 2009 4:47 PM GMT
You'd tip a bloke who brings the food from the kitchen but won't tip someone who brings food miles?
Report Brodie • December 19, 2009 4:48 PM GMT
posts disappearing on here ,v strange
Report Andy Murray • December 19, 2009 4:48 PM GMT
they are?
Report Brodie • December 19, 2009 4:49 PM GMT
I tried to post the same message on here twice and it never arrived
Report mansfieldtoon • December 19, 2009 4:49 PM GMT
Brodie, generally the waiter will clear away after my meal, ask me if it was nice, ask me if I would like anything else, top up my wine, order me a cab etc etc

These things the delivery driver does not do.

Lets face it very few of them pay tax, so I am loathed to tip them.
Report HH Sultan Vinegar • December 19, 2009 4:50 PM GMT
yes I usually bung them a quid. they seem to appreciate it. Better than a kick in the nuts shirley? Andy btw am 15 miles from canterbury
Report shergarburger • December 19, 2009 4:51 PM GMT
^^you think waiters pay tax on tips?
Report HH Sultan Vinegar • December 19, 2009 4:51 PM GMT
they're usually minicab drivers round here
Report Brodie • December 19, 2009 4:52 PM GMT
I tip 'em both. Both poorly paid and do rely on tips imo.

If you don't tip him ...he may remember you next time and could do something nasty to your food.....

It's a tip ...I think...
Report positively4thsteet • December 19, 2009 4:52 PM GMT
I used to get paid 5 quid an hour for 40hrs a week in a crappy, allbeit easy, office job. then got £15 for the whole night (4 hours) sitting in a fish and chip shop/chinese takeaway waiting for delivery jobs. I Loved delivery jobs, got paid extra for them from the chinesey place and regular tips. not saying i deserved a tip, but i think tips are great, never feel guilty about them. I often give tips. I wouldn't have been insulted by a pound tip. better than nothing.
Report Journeyman • December 19, 2009 4:52 PM GMT
A £1 tip is fine.
Tipping nothing is just classless and tight
Report mansfieldtoon • December 19, 2009 4:53 PM GMT
But waiters will pay tax on theor wages...

;)
Report Dan Chipowski • December 19, 2009 4:54 PM GMT
€1 is my standard tip for people delivering food. However, if they are of foreign origin they get nowt :)

If you are going to order from them again, i'd tip the driver and tip them well, they are alone with your food for quite a considerable length of time...

never had a takeaway delivered in my life so i wouldnt know. thats why supermarkets sell food, so you dont have to get raped up the bum for overpriced fatty junk that somones**zed in. and then give a tip for the privelege.
Report Journeyman • December 19, 2009 5:24 PM GMT
They won't j!zz in your food unless you're mansfieldtoon
Report Alex69 • December 19, 2009 6:14 PM GMT
Good thing (NAP). If everyone tipped him £1 he'd pick up an extra, what, £15 or so a night?

Yeah 'cos people who work in food making/packing factories for supermarkets would never do something like that would they?
Report UTV29 • December 19, 2009 7:06 PM GMT
Tipping about 10% of your order is customary. Tipping £1 for a £20 order a bit tight imo
Report Splicer Keats • December 19, 2009 8:02 PM GMT
no point tipping they have already spat in your dhow mein
Report digdeep • December 19, 2009 8:32 PM GMT
I always tip £2.00,and always get excellant service, but I come from the old school who believed you had to grease the wheels to keep them turning.
Report Coachbuster • December 19, 2009 10:07 PM GMT
i tip everyone i come into contact with, bar the dentist .

its the correct thing to do, these folk rely on tips to supplement their low wages .

i used to deliver pizzas many years ago ,so have first hand experience
Report jbarnes (no not him) • December 19, 2009 10:11 PM GMT
couple of quid here for the**y which is the only takeway i ever get (once a month maybe)

always get very hot food, large portions e.t.c
Report Tevez is God • December 19, 2009 10:36 PM GMT
I tip them when they come out on a horrible rainy night cos they're doing something I wouldn't... any other night I'm just being a lazy**, so their choice imo
Report tictacman1 • December 20, 2009 1:15 AM GMT
always tip..u will never know when u need them again....plus its crimbo week...make someones day!
Report Ukmalllia • December 20, 2009 1:21 AM GMT
I tip £4 or £5 to delivery people on average to be honest.

If I order a takeway that is say £25.30 I give £30 and say keep the change. The £4.70 will probaly end up on the floor in a pair of my jeans for 10 weeks so I won't miss it anyway.
Report the butterfly collector • December 20, 2009 10:21 AM GMT
always tip for a quid or two as its very useful service imo.
gave a fiver for xmas last night tho.
as id had a great day betting and made £8
Report TELL DEL • December 20, 2009 10:29 AM GMT
£1 or £2 tip always, if you had an order which came to about £30 or £40
and you only tipped £1 that might look a bit of an insult.
Report TEN2FOLLOWER • December 20, 2009 10:30 AM GMT
I waited tables 20 hours a week 20 years ago and made £100 in tips on a bad week.
Report Ovalman. • December 20, 2009 10:30 AM GMT
Remember to give your Window Cleaner a fiver.
Report evski • December 20, 2009 10:37 AM GMT
I don't see why they get a % of your order. Whether it is a £10 or £40 order they are carrying a bag with food in it. The time and effort for them is identical. This is why I will never tip more than £15 in a restaurant for a table of 2. I don't see why I should give a waiter £6 for bringing me a bottle of Bollinger when he would only get £1.60 if I'd had the prosecco. He is doing exactly the same thing.
Report FatherMaguire • December 20, 2009 10:44 AM GMT
THe only reason I get cabs is cos I am usually miles over the limit - I am actually saving their lives by getting in their cabs so really, they should tip me
