Daughter is at college, her and a friend took on part time jobs and work identical shifts. they turn up for work, supervisor signs time sheets, they get paid...supposedly! however they both have been shortchanged in terms of the number of hours they have worked and My daughter has only been paid about 70% of the hours her mate has been paid. the mates mother rang the company and pretty much said fccuk you, you dont have any proof and there is nothing you can do about it.
Imo, its outright fraud, what course of action is left?
the company is a sub contract outfit to a much larger organisation

an employment agency?

write a letter; stating the hours signed on the time sheet, agreed terms of renumeration, what has been paid to date and the amount outstanding.

State full satisfaction is required with in x days or will look to take further action.

always have copied time sheets, most agencies run a 3 copy system.

"write a letter; stating the hours signed on the time sheet"

we have no proof, we have asked for copies of time sheets but some 'appear' to have gone missing

I don't think I can name a agency that have not tried to diddle me or make mistakes, never lost a cc claim against them, sad thing is a lot will simply contest they owe nothing, but not put it in writing, 3 months pass and then you can''t bring it to employment tribunal because they don't acknowledge, then pay before allocation to court or some just don't bother to even turn up.

Annoying though because employment tribunal can off compensation where as the courts route you can generally only get monetary loss and costs.

You know what hours was worked, really its the case that if they can't produce the time sheets then they don't have a leg to stand on.
