Used to have Peter Ustinov living round the corner from me - an absolute gent.
Before that, living in w.London had Sean Bean, Bill Bailey and duck face from three weddings and a funeral all very nearby. Bean was surprisingly chummy.

I'm afraid I have to paste this excerpt from the Richard Hammond forum regarding someones first meeting with him. All I can say is.....GOOD GOD!!!

My First experience of meeting Richard Hammond

Right i will attempt some sort of coherent report. But its been a long day and i'm tired and on cloud nine so i hope it makes sense!

I left home at just before six this morning to catch the 6.50 bus to Milton Keynes.
I was feeling both excited and nervous during the journey to Richard's book signing. It was the first time i had ever been to an event like this and the first time i was meeting Richard in person.
After a journey of almost 3hrs i met up with four others in the queue at waterstones in Milton Keynes we were very near the front. I expected time to drag but it actually went really fast. We chatted like we'd known each other for ages when in fact we'd only chatted on the net it felt like we were old friends.
As one o'clock approached i became increasingly nervous i didnt have a clue what i was going to say to Richard and was scared i would make a fool of myself. I'd bought him some sweets i knew he liked and had also written a letter to him basically thanking him and Mindy for his book and how much of an inspiration he is to me.
Once it came to the actual book signing it was pretty i was pretty over awed. I handed him the bag of sweets saying 'oh i've got you a little pressie its just some of your favourite sweets.' to which he replied after looking 'thank you so much thats really sweet, that'll keep me occupied on my journey home.' i then went on to say 'i worked at radio york when you were there'. At that point he said 'really' at the same time as flashing me a bit of eyebrow porn! I was aware of him looking at me as if he somehow had a distant recognition. Then he signed my book said 'its a small world isnt it? Thanks for coming' i just smiled and moved on.
It wasnt till later on that it all hit me that it really had happened and i still feel absolutely amazed and in total awe of him. Its hard to describe how powerful those brown eyes are i found it incredibly difficult to hold eye contact with him, it was like he was starring in a nice way into my very soul. It was touching in such an incredible way. He had such an aura of calm. Of normality like an island in a rough sea.
He isnt just a famous person that had a big crash anymore he is so much more then that. The strength the courage the determination to survive and live life to the full is all encompassing. You can feel it oozing from him that quiet determination he has. Is so strong when your with him. But i am also very aware of his vulnerability and innocence.
Yeah he is gorgeous, sexy and all that. But for me my admiration for him goes so much deeper then that.
He is a true survivor a true fighter. An inspiration which makes me believe that maybe i too will make it one day. No i dont want the fame the attention.

Just the courage and strength to overcome my difficulties and survive would suit me just fine.

And all that probably doesnt make much sense but i know what i'm on about i think! LOL
