Just been phoned by a sales rep from BT saying they could give me their package for about half of what AOL are charging me.
I've heard some scathing comments about AOL on here, but still no wiser about why they're so reviled. Anyone care to enlighten?

AOL= SPAM..loads of toolbar cr@p and pop up **e..might be different now, but not for me..mobile broadband all day long.
AOL rowed their own boat up the wrong river. World and his dog went internet explorer, firefox etc. Like Yahoo had the world in their hands and let it slip.

BT is worst company ever - completely incompetent - I could write a book on a lengthy catalougue of disasters with their broadband but can't be bothered, suffice to say I dealt with about 15 people over 3 months with each one being worst than the last. Never ever again!
As long as you don't download the software AOL is fine, they supply the same basic speed as everyone else around these here parts.
Brother is correct, no need to download their software.

They're a marvellous company. I spoke with most of the population of India when having problems with AOL connectivity. We got along wonderfully and some 200 million are coming to my Xmas lunch this year.
