Anybody suffer from this and know how to counteract it?
I get a fair bit of pain in my lower legs during the cold weather and wondered if there was anything I could do other than try to exercise more and keep warm.

My fingers and toes get frozen and I shiver LONG before anyone else feels even chilly.
Dunno the answer - but it's not pleasant.

also get a blood test for thyroid function and blood sugar, as it might be related to mild hypothyroidism and/or type b diabetes

use some cushions or pillows to elevate your feet and legs (preferably so they are higher than your heart) for at least 15 mins a day will help improve circulation in those areas and stop poorly oxenegated blood pooling in your feet.

King Louis - you can buy DVT socks which help the circulation. Getting out in the fresh air and doing 2 thirty minute walks a day will help massively.

Try to avoid taking any prescription drugs if possible

Being a wheelchair user for many years, I noticed my legs were going blotchy as the day went on.

I was referred to a specialist who diagnosed poor circulation and kept me in hospital for further investigations.

The next day my left leg had developed 5 or 6 blisters and it was decided I needed a new aorta (main artery). By this time I was completely out of it, doped up on morphine.

The blisters on my leg burst and became ulcerated but The surgery was successful (obviously :) ), anyway the ulcers healed except one on my knee which was found to have developed one of those nasty bugs.

We tried for over 12 months to save the leg but in he end the bug won and I had the leg amputated above tthe knee.

That was over 2 yrs ago, and thankfully my health has been pretty good since.

It was explained to me that because I couldn;t feel my legs, or the fact that they were cold all the time, that I had left it longer than would be normal before seeking help, so my one piece of advice would be to see a doctor a simple test, known as a Doppler test will determine wether it is circulatory or not because the earlier any treatment can be started the better. It could be as simple as taking an aspirin tablet a day ;)

Happens to me, too. It's called Reynaud's disease. Affects mainly the fingers, but toes, as well.

Thank you all so much for taking the time to reply. And I'm truly very sorry Begb and Hoss to hear of all your suffering. I must admit I am quite worried about it now so I must make an appointment to see the doc soon.
