BA will be gone soon along with any hope of the pension fund being funded. Then they wont be happy.

I get the impression both sides would rather the entire company goes to the wall, than either of them give an inch.

what all these unions forget ...well they probably dont forget is that their employers have t keep their businesses going ...their purpose is not to provide cosy jobs for their members .

I agree with Roger, the management thought they could bully the staff into accepting drastic cuts using the financial deficit as leverage, the union has threatened strike action knowing that the company can't afford one.
Now neither side seems willing to negotiate, both claiming the moral high ground and not wanting to be the ''1st to blink''. |

It's the workers that keep businesses going, not the employers |

When the staff are signing on for their 60 quid a week jobseekers and going for agency work at minuimum wage they will wish they had used their brains a bit more and not let Unions lead them to a battle they couldnt win.

This screams out for a pre-pack administration to dump the debt and the majority of the staff and start again with a clean sheet and free of the pension fund nightmare. And no Unions allowed.
Any other business would have done this ages ago. Presumably it would be a politcal disaster as this is the National carrier. |
