i believe the uk has 212,000 police officers ........as 99% of the population have no need of policing and go about the lives in a law abiding way ,each police officer only has 3 people including children to police .It cant be that difficult surely

the police deal with a lot of calls that are never crimed and never make the crime figures. For example policing an event, going to a road traffic collision or going to 999 calls where people should have never rang in the first place.

they are revenue collectors.

where do you think the world "police" comes from. they are "policy" officers and they are here to enforce company policy - you know these policies as statutes and are under the misconception that they are laws.

Given that 3 stripes means you can read and write, 2 stripes means you can read or write, and 1 stripe means you know someone who can read or write, the numbers will always be larger than you thought necessary.

Only thrice have I knowingly broken the law:

- Taping a song off the radio without the artist's prior consent;
- Accidentally wandering into a first class carriage between Liverpool St and Stratford for 4 minutes;
- A sustained arson and robbery campaign against various members of the clergy throughout the home counties over a 15 year period between 1981 and 1996.

Think i read somewhere that on average a policeman makes 9 arrests per year. Could double that in the local on a saturday afternoon, rife with dodgy gear.
