What do you think of them? Seems to be the fashion in these parts to knock down all the internal walls in refurbs, doing away with lounge bars, snugs etc and turning the place into a barn.

I wouldn't mind so much about the loss of alternative drinking areas if the refurbs were otherwise well done, but they're nearly all crap.

Less nooks and crannies for us naughty customers to hide in - its all about surveillance. Spot this one too - locking other doors into a pub leaving only one open. Easier for staff to monitor us naughty customers as we enter/leave.

A friend of mine spent £250,000 refurbishing his pub. I thought he was making a mistake, but it has proven to be a wise move.

I like the traditional English 'Irish pub' refurb - nothing like having a bike or a watering can nailed upside down to the celing.
