Not being funny yeah, how do I turn off all auto-formatting in the 2003 version of Excel? I'm trying to imput some number based data onto a spreadsheet and every time I try to imput something like "7/2", it auto formats it to "07-Feb". If I cant**this soon, I might shoot myself. Help will be very well received.

you can set it as text but cant perform any calculations from it

i like to right click, format cell , go to custom , and type ##/## and enter

this keeps fractions as fractions and you can do calculations from them as well

ah the old 6/4 to 3/2 and 4/6 to 2/3

It dosnt actually make any difference in reality the way it displays it for calcualtion purposes but if you want to tidy up your data then you could have a seperate column and put

if(2/3 OR 3/2 was in A1 for example) THEN in column B
=IF(A1=2/3,"4/6",IF(A1=3/2,"6/4",A1))

of course this makes the 4/6 and 6/4 text so calculations would have ot be taken from the priginal 2/3 and 3/2

Of course, but it just doesn't look right. Like 100/30 and 10/3...
