It is pap of the highest order. Dan Brown shouldn't be allowed to write.
Read Sarah Waters - The Little Stranger. Veeeeeery good read.
Also recomend Cormac McCarthy - The Road.

not in the slightest - if you can't see what a terrible writer dan brown is then i'm left baffled. Da Vinci code was an attrocious car wreck of a 'novel' made only to appeal to the lowest common denomonator.

I listened to it as a (dodgy) audiobook, I thought it was quite good compared to Angels and Demons. The last 1/5 of the book was a waste. I'm sure this will turn into a decent movie.

I enjoyed Dan Brown's previous four books. Yes, they're lightweight and a bit far-fetched, but I like reading about codes, ciphers and puzzles etc, so I thought some of the criticism regarding his writing prowess was a little harsh; he obviously appeals to millions of others besides me.
That said, even as a self-confessed fan, I was very disappointed by The Lost Symbol. There were so many holes in both plot and continuity, I am at a loss to explain how they were not picked up upon during the many edits to which a book of this prominence would surely be subjected.
