in this day and age would a game of bombing each other get through the Politically Correct Brigade or be banished within seconds due to taliban extremists?
Bought a Nintendo 64 years back, was planning to sell it recently but ebay sale prices are terrible so decided to plug the thing in for a week or two. Got some of the games mentioned here and they are still as good as I remembered.

Some cracking games and memories here! Was "working late" on many evenings that were taken up playing Mario Kart, Bomberman or SF2!!
Jamesdean - thanks for mentioning Striker. Still one of the best games on my CV even 16 years later :D
dk1986 very close to the same as mine, tho can't be having Mortal Kombat personally.
My faves have already all been mentioned: Bomberman Mario Kart Mario World Rock & Roll Racing SFII Striker Castlevania Super Soccer & Super Tennis were a good laugh, if not great. Probotector / Contra

dk - long passwords was a result of costs. The cost of adding a save game to a SNES cartridge was pretty pricey. Elite were very much a small publisher, so took the option of keeping the costs down by using passwords. You had to buy your stock up front from Nintendo, so if they'd piled in and the game had been a flop would have added to the losses. Hence most games from smaller publishers typically didn't have save slots unless essential.
There endeth the lesson in mid 1990's game publishing :D

zelda still a great game once you spend a half an hour at it and get back into the swing of it. ghouls N ghosts is a very hard game, almost tear your hair out hard. if you can pick up an old chipped xbox , it comes with emulators for geneisis, snes, neogeo, n64 , mame and a few more that i cannot remember off the top of my head. comes with a large volume of games preinstalled, but not for mame. but games are easy to add for any emulator.

Remember on Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts that you had to complete the game twice - they sent you back to the start the 1st time you completed for some bracelet

UniRally. Jeez, I'd forgotten all about that one. Cracking game that.
What was the game where you could punch people while racing. It was a driving game, similar in style to Mario Kart but the L + R buttons unleashed a tasty move to which ever ** was immediately to the side. There were a choice of characters I believe.
I want to say Street Racer was it's name. Whatever it was, it was great!

Thanks for that Bradders. That's some good knowledge. :)
Remember Striker passwords were in the form of an 8x8 (IIRC) grid, with all sorts of letters and numbers. Took a few minutes to type it in, at which point you'd discover you'd written it down wrong or it didn't recognise it. Mind my Striker was second-hand so who knows if it had a bug.
If there's one thing I know though, it's that I loved stuffing U.A.E and Malta with the big European boys. :D

Sadly, not that I'm aware of! Certainly nothing legit.
You could always buy a Wii, classic controller, hook up to the Virtual Console and get downloading old games for LOADS of different consoles. Not quite the same as it costs money rather than just running the ROMs.
But I've just taken a look at the list... Pretty much all the classics!!
