I lost the whole bloody letter and I'm not pleased about it. I was given options to 'open a new window' and when I did, the letter was gone. I didn't even get the option to cut and paste or save it. The popup covered it and prevented me from doing it. WTF gives? are there time limits on how long you can spend composing a letter?

Must be the ultimate embarrassment having an @AOL email address.

It could be worse, you could have an email ending btopenworld B-)

No. AOL is the only one that's completely different to the others.

As you described in your opening post.

There was another thread on here last night related to AOL DNS problems.

It's a lesson most have learnt the hard way at one time or another - if it's gonna be a long one either write it in a word document first or save drafts as you go along.

Google mail is Brilliant!!! And you wont lose your emails after spending 30 mins writing.

Stuck with them. Too much hassle to change my e-mail address.

You can use a new provider and still have the aol address.
Report everythings gone green • December 13, 2009 10:15 AM GMT
Gmail webmail continually saves your drafts so even if your PC crashes it's still there.

I haven't used an ISP email address for years because of the hassle of changing supplier.
Report Ibrahima Sonko • December 13, 2009 10:16 AM GMT
my mail would automatically save it as a draft.
Report everythings gone green • December 13, 2009 10:17 AM GMT
I used to be with LineOne and they allowed me to access my mail for about 5 years after I cancelled. Couldn't send anything from the address though.
Report PRETTY IN PINK • December 13, 2009 10:20 AM GMT
Keep your AOL account ( if you must) and simply use gmail. You will be impressed.
Report everythings gone green • December 13, 2009 10:22 AM GMT
I use Gmail all the time. One thing I don't like about it is the way it reads your emails and displays adverts related to the content of them.

Very sinister.
Report Hoss • December 13, 2009 10:27 AM GMT
E.G.G. It must be just yours, I don't seem to get that problem.
Report PRETTY IN PINK • December 13, 2009 10:27 AM GMT

That Gmail ad thing only occurs with webmail, not if you use a mail client eg. Outlook.

You can turn off the adverts on Gmail by going to

settings
webclips
turn off webclips checkbox

I use aol for £9.99 per month plus free phone calls 24/7.

Never a problem, I just don't download their software.

Yup, that's a lesson I learnt long ago with AOL. Print off the email you're replying to and then draft reply in Word.l

Dear sirs,

I think that your personal attack on me by calling my name an embarrassment was wholly uncalled for and i would hope that you are more thoughtful to people not as fortunate as yourselves.

Yours faithfully,

Fuzzy Nobcheese.

Well, I've nothing to compare them with, as they're the only ISP provider I've had since getting online 5 years ago. What is it that makes them so bad, compared to the others?
Report fuzzyone • December 13, 2009 5:00 PM GMT
I cant log onto my bank either thanks to AOL :(
Report Coachbuster • December 13, 2009 10:11 PM GMT
wur,

AOL seems to be incompatible with anything and everything ,including BF ,so BF have told me aswell .

Customer service is a shambles, they rarely refund any money owed , they take money from bank accounts without permission , they refuse to accept connection problems etc etc.

Terrible connection aswell through old fashioned BT lines
