Can't get worse for me really. Was in denial there for a while.

£250K in debt. Wife, I think, is seeing someone else. Kids pestering me for money I don't have. For a while I've been passing blood when I go for a "No.2" (afraid of going to see doctor, I hope its just ulcers because I drink heavily - although it might be the BIG C.). Trying to gamble to win to make things better although I know that won't work. Mate told me to go to AA - all about god, not for me.

Chin up, I suppose. Can it get any worse?

Can put my hands on 3k, now. Advice?

not being funny, but you need a kit kat, (take a break).
Report Dan Chipowski • December 11, 2009 3:00 AM GMT
1. See a doctor.

2. Sit down and have it out with your wife. If she's having an affair, get rid, immediately.

3. Talk to your banks/lenders etc and agree a repayment structure you can afford.

1&2 are a hell of a lot more important than 3.....money comes and goes. You may be happier without a pot to p!ss in than you ever were before.
Report Mavis "Hacksaw" Handbag • December 11, 2009 3:05 AM GMT
Chipowski nails it.

debts are all material anyway, a bankruptcy can wipe that out if things are really bad... gl

Yup, go to the doctor. The rest can wait.

There are a number of possible causes for bleeding in the bowl but you need to know.
If it's the big one, you need to tackle it head on. The unknown is always more scary.
If it's not, you're causing yourself needless stress by ignoring it.

I'm going to post a quote that I saved off these very pages a while ago. I think if you really truly believe in what it has to say, a lot of weight is lifted off your shoulders:

Money is an illusion.

The feeling that you are better than someone because you have focused your attention on accumulating more of the illusion than another person has, is ridiculous.

If your primary motive has been the accumulation of that illusion because you think that it affords you some sort of superiority over other people, then it is extremely unlikely that anything can possibly redeem you.

Although it is an illusion, money does have a purpose.

It can quite easily identify the scroungers, and exploiters, of it in equal measure.

It is your actions over your lifetime mark that you out for what you really are.

you could have 3k or 300k, but to live liike a king you would have to have an open heart and love yourself and everyone around you - the way to true happiness. you could do this with only a penny in your pocket.

having said that, thailand might be a shout :)
Report DonWarro • December 11, 2009 3:48 AM GMT
this ended up being long but i felt it should all be said. hope something in there helps, if you only listen to one things ive said.

first of all - be positive. read the thread on the norway light - gets a bit philosophical. im just talking about read the parts about reality and consciousness etc, not the other theories. about how you may be able to have a positive effect on your reality. and try and make sure you concentrate your thoughts in future on what it is you want to happen in your life, what changes you want, remaing positive and stoping negative thoughts as soon as you notice your having them concentrate on something good. things may be bad but try not to take life too seriously - what will be will be.

re the wife - b*tch. try and be positive still. if you're not well you may need her. you may still love her anyway even if she is **ing i dont know either way - but perhaps pushing her away would be your pride taking the driving seat so i would suggest try the opposite depending on ur feelings. she might just be menopausal or something.. dont know age. similarly you could just be a bit paranoid because you've got all this on your mind, or she may be feeling neglected and therefore now be a little unrespondent to you. but maybe if you try n win her back, if that's what's needed (she needs you to make an effort maybe, and only you can make yourself do that)

a rekindled relationship may give you the impetus to try and make changes in your life and get yourself out of the rut you've fallen into. or you could ask her outright and tell her to jog on if shes **ing or that you wanna make up depending on your feelings although bear in mind this might make things even more stressful. try n give her a good seeing too ;)

re your health - i dont go docs either - fortunately im all ok though. suggest checking out what foods/herbs etc may improve your symptoms if you cant pluck up the courage to go to the docs although you probably should, at the very least to find out what you're dealing with. all the drugs they would give you ultimately come from these sources anyway one way or another. eat well - less cr*p more veg n fish. get some sun. take some exercise - get a routine of some sort. do your best to cut down the drinking..i guess you need to find other things to do and perhaps the things ive mentioned will be plenty to be getting on with. drink a lot of water, litres a day, as a matter of routine, not when you feel thirsty (by that point ur already dehydrated). might help quench the thirst if you've drunk so much water that you dont want to drink anything else. careful with this tho dont go overboard. maybe a bit more sleep required too as its half 4 ;)

investigate liberty wealth club and everything they say. they are not a registered business because they ensure that they operate outside of commercial jurisdictions where they can be limitted in their actions by authorities.

they will try to help you get rid of your debts - all of them. make sure you are duly diligent though. teh concept will initially strike you as controversial, maybe ridiculous, depending on your individual persona. but i suggest keep investigating, your confidence in them may grow. they will help you get rid of them by teaching you, providing you with info. im not a member myself but know someone who is. for background on the approach they use (i think) read the unenforceable credit agreements thread on financials board.

i believe they charge £600 to be a member but this is for life. this stage is for getting info on getting rid of debts. they have further stages (to do clever financial things) that cost a lot more once uv cleared debts and they offer you the chance to pay for this by selling membership to their club.. you get a commission. i didnt join because a) i dont have any debt; and b) the sales scheme they also offer seemed to me it was too pyramid-like and i was at the time concerned they were a scam. and i wasnt interested in the selling aspect anyway. but i do think the 600 quid is probably worth the information - and if it's not well its just another 600 quid gone, so depends if you fancy the risk or not because as with anything there is some. in your case the risk/reward ration might make it quite attractive to you, i dont know. sell their membership or dont sell it, doesnt really matter, and selling isnt required if you just want to clear your debt. when i talked to them briefly i ignored the selling aspect. they are very good at taking the time to listen and discuss though and do give people personal attention which is needed, and they may be able to help you relax about things a bit. above all once introduced to the subject you will have questions and they are happy to give you answers.

i warn you in advance it offers a change in perspective with regard to how the financial system works and you may or may not be able to accept what they are saying.

im not recommending them - im just suggesting you check it out. given you my opinion on them - that is all it is, my opinion.

tell the kids to get jobs etc- ask them to look around and see that people, yourself included are not as affluent as they once were and to chill out.

or you could run away from the lot and fly off somewhere and forget everything and live off grid work cash in hand etc but unlikely an option with kids you want to see and of course they need you, and you can still help emotionally with them if not financially. and obv if you fall ill it may be more difficult to get treatment if you need it. 3k also a tough start but im sure people have done it for less when forced to.

off to bed , so best of luck, i wish you well and hope things get better. just trying to give you options with all this. there are always options. if you want things to get better you've got to force yourself to make changes.

(i had similiar conversation with someone else this evening so was alreayd thinking about these things a bit).

NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER pay for debt advice.

I can't hit this home hard enough. Avoid that 'club' like the plague. What sort of 'non listed company' takes money off people for basic advice on becoming insolvent? I think you know the sort.

Sorry but that suggestion has made me quite cross and i think it's incredibly irresponsible to be suggesting joining this cult - thats what it screams of.

Go to www.moneysavingexpert.com. Join their forums and begin asking questions. The people there are the most helpful you will find on the internet and it's a genuinely FREE service run by Martin Lewis (who you may have seen on tv).

Please don't be so silly as to part with £600 when you have no idea what they're offering you and how much further it could cost you. Crazy. I'm genuinely angry that someone would suggest someone in this situation even consider a bunch of cowboys like that. You could say i'm SEETHING in fact ;)

Good luck, go to money saving expert and jump in feet first!

Here's a review of Liberty wealth Club by the Business Opportunity Watch online magazine.

Gives it an impressive zero out of ten as a recommendation :0
Seems to be very much an MLM at any rate.

lol at these comments.

of course it gets zero out of ten. i suspected people would find it difficult to comprehend. you guys need to try and understand the real world and that there are good reasons why it is not listed. if you appreicate that government is effectively an organised crime outfit , stealing from you left right and centre without you realising it, then you might begin to understand.

the money for ~"debt advice" - i should clarify - it's money for being taught how the financial system actually works. how money is really created, and that really when you take a "loan" they are actually loaning nothing at all. they give you back you own "money" and charge yo ufor the priviilige. the banking system does not incur ANY liability.

for all you doubters - pls go read unenforceable credit agreements thread, particularly page 3, for insight on how banks accomplish this fraud. try shedding your belief system for 5 mins and consider you may well have been taken advantage of. if you think im talking blx, im sure you will have no problem in refuting what ive said in that thread. it's been there weeks and we're still waiting for someone to do that, because no one actually can - because it's true.

condemnation without investigation is the height of ignorance. and i mean investigate exactly what it is they are saying.

i wont be commenting again, spent enough time here.
Report DonWarro • December 11, 2009 8:46 AM GMT
one more thing.

for those of you that read the philosophy etc within the norway lights thread - we talk about ingrained belief systems etc, how they are a method of control.

fyi, the financial system as you recognise is nothing more that a belief system. it has been used to control you, manipulate you - essentially so you work hard etc, for the benefit of a few at the top in control of the system. time to wake up now with all this bull going on in the financial world.

I'm not sure how posting a link to a review of this club constitutes blinkered condemnation.
As someone in a finacial hole was being advised to spend 20% of their remaining available capital on a 'black box' operation
it merely seemed reasonable to post an existing and extensive alternative opinion to yours about this club.

The review is very disturbing taken at face value.

For example is this part of the review accurate? you tell us.

You might have thought that the "Wealth" in Liberty Wealth Club came from learning about and applying the information in the material provided as part of the courses and seminars. It doesn't. The "Wealth" comes from selling this information to others. Under the heading "The Liberty Wealth Club Marketing Plan" it says, "Marketing The Programme ... This is how you make your money ..." and it goes on to explain the three levels in the club and the earnings you can achieve from sales at each level.

Is it correct that those that sign up are being encouraged to market something that ' is illegal in the UK because it is a multi-level scheme and it should comply with the Trading Schemes Regulations, but it doesn't comply. That's a criminal offence.

You know the answers to these questions. We don't and the guy that passed out on his couch with a quarter mill in the swamp and (probably) piles in his a$s CERTAINLY doesn't know.

Genuine query, not condemnation of you or anything.

Things can be tough, and ARE tough for most of us from time to time, and the outlook seems bleak. The fact that it "could always be worse" is of little comfort. It's right up there with "pull yourself together" in tems of advice.

I reckon a decent analysis of your situation wouldn't hurt.

How pressing are your debts? can you put them into some sort of order, and regroup?

Are you sure your wife is having an affair?
or is this a fevered depressed imagination at work - if it is, then that is terribly unfair on her, especially if she is trying to help and support you.

You haven't said how old your kids are, but I'm sure they would understand if you explained to them you haven't any spare money, and talk to them about it.

Drinking won't help, it never does.
Seeing the doctor is imperative, (although it's most likely piles).

the "wealth" from selling the info, is not wealth imo.

the wealth aspect, comes from paying barely any tax. reclaiming all monies you have paid towards any loan or mortgage. access to compound interest funds where the elite stash their dough for huge growth. i dont think you get these things for the £600 - these are part of the next stage which is worth a few k.

appreciate it all sounds dodgy. up to you if you want to take the leap of faith as it were. all fully legal.

re i dont like if people disagree with me - that's fine of course people are entitled to disagree. but if you say something and i disagree i will often try and explain tings differently that's all if i think you are either misunderstanding or there is further info i can provide that may make you reconsider.

reading a few reviews selectively isnt really researching it. i believe when i last checked there were also a lot of positive reviews. and as i say, i know a few already in. some club members have phone numbers with their pic and/or a vid of themself if you look aobut on the net. only costs a phone call to speak to someone directly who can tell you more than i.

off for a few days now ta ta. sry if i upset anyone or whatever. maybe i just talk total sht eh :)

download a show called "In Treatment" (you can get if from most torrent sites). Each show is 30 minutes and it's about a therapist and his patients (one patient each show). It's like going through therapy for free, because as you watch it you'll see bits of your own behaviour.
