Got upgraded to First on flight from LA to LHR. Sat next to Samuel L Jackson. Not really value for money but if you want to pamper yourself do it under the circumstances you suggest. Longest flight imagineable, on the way out to an exciting new adventure and you know you're not flying long haul again for a while.

true story.. was once in paris and had to wait four hours for my flight

was sat around in the airport and decided to ask about quicker flights/being changed etc..

the woman said, we have spaces in first class on the next flight out in 20 minutes which i wasnt bothered about paying.. and then she said.. oh and fabian barthez is on it as well... lol now im a united season ticket holder and i said.. well he he is useless we should get someone good in and he would prob drop the drinks passing them to me anyway.. the french woman looked at me like i had the plague

like ricky gervais said at his recent stand up gig...

"if i'm paying 10k to fly 1st class for that money i expect a bit of the plane to shoot off and transport me to the nearsest desert island in the event of a crash. but no, I'll be plumeting to my death with the rest of you losers in economy!!"

:) @ GASHWAN.

Stuart Maconie once wrote that when he was on a trip with NME, him and his photographer asked for an upgrade, and they were told with a smile that they were being upgraded "all the way".

He said the only thing that would have improved the experience would have been the chance to watch everyone in Economy Class.

"But obviously that shouldn't be reversed, otherwise every long-haul flight would resemble Moscow in late 1917."
