I'm a postman and if there's something that's supposed to be sgned for and they're not in, I just post it. Or if it's a parcel I put it in the recycling bin. I never, ever, take anything back to the office. In my experience, people just don't want to get home from work and find a red card telling them to drive to the depot and queue up, all for the sake of a signature. I've been doing it for a couple of years now and I've never had a single complaint.

It's called customer care. Keeping people happy. It's better to have a postman who knows what you prefer, than someone who plays things exactly as Royal Mail tell him to. As I said, I've been doing this almost every day for two years now and I haven't had a single person complain.

Wit Ham, the only way he could get into trouble would be if you went to the depot and made a complaint. Otherwise, there's simply no way Royal Mail would find out. The only things that ALWAYS require a signature (and there's no way for the postman to duck this) are special delivery items.

I got my badges for Chester May meeting 12 sets registered post ,well i have to go and collect them, ( red card ), i am glad really 1900 quids worth, would not want him leaving them in recycle bin, or through letter box to be honest.

trigger i agree, i used to be a post man before i left to join the army, what i was thinking i dont know, but if i had a reg i would throw it in, and put my own signature down, did if for an old man one day, he was very grateful, and gave me a nice tip when christmas rolled around

It wasn't registered, lots of companies just put the stickers on the envelope to make it look important. Some of the barcodes should be peeled off and stuck onto the post office copies. If they are all still on the label then it is only pretending to be registered.
