Hopefully its my last.
50 cent is on Graham Nortons show.
Apparently worth $400 million dollars, i swear i would rather be homeless.
Rap is one of these modern tricks of the media, its smoke and mirrors. It the Kings new clothes, you have to pretend its cool even though you know its mindless, tuneless pap!!
Seems he was shot 9 times and survived, i would have made the very first one count!

Agree in general, have liked a few Eminem and 2pac songs though. Notably 'The Way I Am' which to me is up there with music from any genre.

Who has to pretend its cool? If you think its crap you think its crap . No-one is going to evict you from the cool room.

I am a bit of a dinosaur and watched my first DVD last Xmas (true).
I really do not get rap. Its not that its an anti-black thing. Its just that its rubbish!!

It's a shame Britain has not had a decent rapper since Richard Blackwood.

I hear Gus from Eastenders is bringing out a record. Hopefully he can reprasent UK on the world stage.

The rap scene in GB has had only one great success. Derek B and his infamous Bullet From A Gun Album featuring the all time classic ''Bad Young Brother''
Trying to fill his shoes since has only ended in all consuming failure.

First, get a silly gold tooth and a chavvie tracksuit with hood. Then just think of a few rhyming words, dont worry about an original composition, just nick an old base line from some old abba or stevie wonder song and bang your away.
No talent required.

I could not hear the words as he performed, i thought i would test myself just to see.
Heard a lot of "er,er er" and then i caught the main line, "have my baby, be a millionaire, have my baby be a millionaire"!!
People really get exposure and then rich from this infantile nonsense?? We really have hit rock bottom.
Earlier in the year i came home late from a night out and put the telly on. He was in a film.
I remember fiddling with the remote as i thought there was something wrong with the sound control.
I could not understand a SINGLE word of the conversations!!

I'd say the overriding demographic of Betfair Chit Chat is middle-aged, white, slightly right-wing blokes.

If we, collectively, 'get' rap then rap is doing something radically wrong.

Rap is like any other music genre in that there are a lot of good acts that don't get the publicity they deserve. To use 50 Cent and Dizzee Rascal as a stick to beat the whole of rap with is the equivalent of**ging off any ten-a-penny band to illustrate that you don't like rock.

I can appreciate some, there are some early snoop dog songs and catchy nwa tunes from the past.
But i watched that aswel last night and couldn't believe just how shlt a "tune" that was. It was terrible but not dissimilar to anything else i have seen in that genre sinse.
It was obvious graham and the 2 guests felt the same but embaressingly they were trying to look kool and telling him how great he was when he went back to them.

There are plenty of more progressive acts out there who don't spend their time talking about killing and hoes. Acts like De La Soul, Flobots and Pharcyde are brilliant. Although as someone stated earlier, the target audience for this genre of music isn't really middle aged, right wing WASP types.
Report GranpaChook. • December 8, 2009 2:18 PM GMT
The rap/hip-hop that is widely available is pretty much all s*it. As another poster said though, all genres have lots of good stuff if you look for it.

Check out Jurassic 5. Quality hip-hop group from a few years ago.

50 cent represents the guns beeyatch and bling side of rap, there are plenty of diverse artists within hip hop. to write the whole thing off as mindless is in itself mindless. A bit like saying rock music is rubbish because you don't like AC DC. Now the biggest selling genre of music in the world and the success of people like Jay Z and what he has been able to achieve because of his ability deserves respect if you like his music or not.

Top-selling proves nothing. McDonalds, The Sun, Primark.
Top-selling just means cheap and nasty to me.
Rap is for people who cannot write or sing trying to kick back against the establishment in some mainstream way.
Its like drum-banging by oompah-loompahs after getting stoned in the jungle.
Its rubbish and so are the drongos who listen to it.
I would rather listen to Susan**for the rest of my life than that infernal noise "er, er, er" and "baby, baby music".
White, middle-aged and spot on!!!
Report JUGADOR MEJOR • December 8, 2009 2:33 PM GMT
