Florida can be cold by the end of December, especially up in the north, where you can feel the British weather sometimes...and by Britain I mean, 8-10C and not the stupid "oooooooooh its waaay cold in britain" pessimist brigade

All I'm saying is, it's a bit of a chance to take regarding warm weather in Florida in the Winter, not guaranteed, at least there's a better chance than the canary islands

Im going away to gran canaria, and getting back early hours of xmas day. My daughter will be looking out of the plane expecting to see Santa and the reindeers, bless her!

Any idea on temperature over there? Do I pack sweaters and jeans etc :-(

gemskie, its a bit of hit and miss..........pack both basically, you may find it cold at night, so have suitable clothes for nightwear

Think of it this way, Britain has the warmest winter in Europe except for Greece and Spain, I dunno if you have been to europe outwith Greece and Spain in the past, it can get VERY VERY cold in Europe unlike here

but as we a re a nation of dog lovers, we're also a nation of moaners

not Gran Canaria, I'm afraid............but Lanzarote though...........I went in the beginning of November, it was very very hot, and very balmy and sweaty at night, despite the winds, it doesnt give you a cool breeze at all.........very stuffy when I went, though I liked it though, I like stuffy night-time weather

since I went in the beginning of November, I feel that during christmas time it can be totally different?, apart from the, in Lanzarote anyway, it was the usual stuff, water sports etc, usually things that go on in the water

punter

thats why I chose gran canaria at this time of year.. with little gal I didnt want anywhere too hot. Im hoping it'll be just like our normal summers (not 2007 lol)

went to egypt last december that was fab, in the 70s all day and cool at night. perfect

Florida is usually in the mid to highs 70s in December , never had a bad one, Lanzarote in December is very windy usually , in the 1970s and early 80s i used to surf and windsurf , perfect for the latter.

Have a great Christmas wherever you all may be going, even mother in laws ;)

well, weatherwise, hot countries in the winter, you just don't know what you can expect, it's all hit and miss, so pack both.........although if it's gonna be hot in the day in Gran Canaria, I'd imagine the temperature wouldnt drop much during the night

Just make sure you don't get sun stroke though! that'll just make you shiver all night even if its hot!

true Tex, about it being very windy but you might be giving the bad impression to people in Britain that the wind is cold, when actually the wind is hot if the weather is hot itself that is
