buy the first lp by John Prine. It includes "Angel Fom Montgomery " and "Sam Stone. "
I spend just about every autumn in the Bay Area and Prine's about as good as this genre gets. |

Transformer (Lou Reed), Songs of Leonard Cohen, Astral Weeks (Van Morrison), Ummagumma, Atom Heart mother, Meddle, Dark Side of the Moon (Pink Floyd), Just Another Diamond Day (Vashti Bunyan), HMS Donovan (Donovan), Tubular Bells (Mike Oldfield), After the Goldrush (Neil Young), Aladdin Sane (David Bowie) Yellow Brick Road (Elton John), Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits, Revolver, Sergeant Pepper's, White Album (Beatles), Her Satanic Majesty's Requests (Rolling Stones), Teaser and the Firecat (Cat Stevens).
Other acts you should check out (can't remember their best albums) are Spirit, Quintessence, Fairport Convention, Jefferson Airplane, Joni Mitchell, Melanie, Hawkwind. There were also a lot of less well known bands that had cult followings, like The Incredible Sring Band, Caravan, Third Ear Band etc, Pink Fairies etc. |
