These four clips are from a single show that aired shortly before Peter Cook died.

He was the only guest on the show, appearing as four characters.

My favourite was this one
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oeG9r6HxJgE

but the other three characters were also excellent
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEIgZQK1LsA
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFEE0hFQrGI
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dj8v9Cjwlw

if you're a fan you'll have seen these already.
However if you haven't seen them, have half an hour to spare and fancy a laugh, sit back and enjoy.

He might have wasted much of his potential, and by all accounts could be tricky to work with
but when he was truly in the zone he was (imho) the finest there's ever been.

RIP sir. :)

I've got this tape where he plays an old Scottish golf pro. He retires to his lodge with his faithful mutt and tells these hilarious golf stories.

Was that 'Peter Cook talks Golf balls'?

I had that on VHS, lent it someone, never saw it again.
Another multi character experience.

There must be a fair few Derek and Clive fans on here, surely to fk..

Stephen Fry described him as "The funniest man that ever drew breath"

I am inclined to agree - I presume the clips are when he pretended to be
a rock singer, old judge, future england manager and metal detector man.

Top class imo, perfect tv.

Bedazzled is good too, with Eleanor Bron...the pop star sketch, where Dudley goes first...

Anybody seen "The Rise and Rise of Michael Rimmer"? A rare film, years ahead of Tony Blair and New Labour spin.

The Derek and Clive material (especially Get the Horn) is still pretty effective in the sense of it being edgy, unpredictable and obviously great fun to scare the family with at Christmas etc.

It's obviously miles away from the less improvised, careful and clever stuff that really shows his talent.
I like both but can completely see why some wouldn't.

I think the Clive Anderson show was the best example of his talent.

Footbal is about nothing if it is not about something. And football is what it is about.

Yeah I agree. The 'dare to fail' course and the three M's :D

It's almost as if he was saying 'this is how good I can actually be, now I'm gonna die and you lot can s0d off'

Used to call radio phone in shows as Sven (before the Ulrika sven). Comedy gold just done for his own amusement. Must be recordings on the webaliser somewhere.

A funny bloke, but the beneficiary of a very powerful lobby.

"Genius" is going too far and the opinion of one half of the duo who inflicted 'A Bit of Fry and Laurie' is hardly conclusive!

Orioles. If he isn't a comedy genius I don't know who is. I just quoted Stephen Fry, I wasn't blindly copying his opinion.

Only Spike Milligan is comparable as far as I can see.
