Water are their enemy.
Rub any dirt off with a bit of kitchen paper, or if you're very picky, peel it/them.

Water and Mushrooms do not mix.
I am an amateur mycologist and an epicurean.
NEVER wash mushrooms but brush wild ones and cut of the rotten bits with a sharp knife.
Store in paper not plastic as they sweat.
