Hoping some IT genius can help here.

Using Word ('97 version I think) on Windows XP box.

Never had a moment's trouble printing documents, using either the print icon or going down the 'File - Print' options route.

Our outsourced IT support company came in on Friday, messed about 'optimising' and 'updating' our system and lo and behold one (and only the one) of our PC's now does something very wierd when we try and print a document.

Instead of printing, it comes up with a 'Save As' box, with the document (nay document) being created as a 'Microsoft Document Imaging' (*mdi) file, which cannot be printed.

If anyone can help, then many thanks

the printer was probably removed from the computers system, or print as fax/document has been set to default

Like Andy Murray says, make sure your actual printer is set as the default printer.

And while you are at it, check the printer has the right default settings for you (eg double sided).
