It is about logistics, not child protection. You could video it if it were only you. The problem is two dozen parents all trying to video the same performance.

Is this one of those political correctness gone mad threads? I love them.

Got no problem with that, as long as they don't charge a fortune. One of the most annoying things about being in school plays when I was a kid was the array of nobheads in the audience pointing their cameras at you, half of them fiddling about because they can't work the fricking things. Admittedly camcorders were quite a bit bigger in those days, so they were more conspicuous.

they made out that it was for the protection of the children in the letter they sent, i couldn't understand they only SELL(yes SELL), 2 tickets each child per performance so its not an open house, they are all in disguise(my son as an elf), i don't see any danger especially as i will be watching my son throughout as i am sure other parents will be, no mention of logistics they are just playing the child protection card, its a fantastic school but i have been shocked by the almost daily money grabbing schemes they dream up, soon they will be charging for me to go through the gate every morning they might as well

If it was really a child protection thing, then it's ridiculous. I stand by what I said about people in the audience filming though. It's irritating both for the cast, and for other audience members when those using them are trying to get the best angle, and don't turn off their viewscreens.

How about challenging the letter sender - hold them to account for their actions. Gather like-minded parents together if you can.
Don't let these jobsworths rape our freedoms.

Object to the authorised camera filming your child without permission - ask to see THEIR criminal records check - stir it all up.

Ask royalties for your Kid's contribution.

OT but still pc I was told by an old hand in the swimming trade that the original reason for swimming pools banning photography decades ago was not to foil the pervs but to stop people cutting their feet on discarded flashbulbs.

Wifes school isn't allowed to video full stop due to child protection. Some kids are in care from abusive parents (who don't know where the kid currently lives) and there is a risk that the parent could get hold of the tape / work out where they are etc.
