1. Despite Louth having a population of just 17,000, there are 6 specialist butchers in town (not including deli counters and market stalls). That means that there is 1 buthcer per 2800 people, a ratio that I would imagine is hard to beat.

Lakings - General
Meridian - General
Sandy - Poultry
Jacksons - Pork
Pocklingtons - General - pies and pasties
Robinsons - General

4. One of the town's main attractions is Hubbards Hills, which opened to the public in 1907. The park is a glacial valley through which the River Lud passes, with steep, wooded slopes on either side. Ideal for a picnic, walk, or dogging.

The Asparagus Growers Association
The British Onion Producers Association

12. The 18th century wool warehouse at the head of the canal is now a restaurant and public meeting place and houses an excellent display of the canal. Although the waterway itself is no longer navigable, the towpaths have been restored and make a fine walk out of town.

Redrich - shot in the dark with this one ! - do you / did you know of a Julie (may have been Julia) Burnett - probably married now with different surname that lived with her parents at North Street in at least the early 1970's ? Is North Street still there or been knocked down for whatever? Interested to know!
