Simple :)
Report Diamond Jumper • November 29, 2009 11:54 AM GMT
obviously you have to have your wife agree to this and get her forms back asap plus no kids involved and finances all sorted..
Report cooperman • November 29, 2009 11:57 AM GMT
£25 for a phone call or e-mail is deserving of at least a good beating imho.

I remember when I went to see a solicitor for the first time to get advice on obtaining a Parental Responsibility Order (This was before the law changed a year or so back and unmarried fathers had bugger all rights). I was told that the initial half hour consultation could be arranged at a discounted £75 - there seemed some genuine distain that I didn't greet this news in a joyous manner.

does the majority of the uk back the war in iraq?
that will cost £20 billion

did the majority of the uk back the bailing out of the banks?
that to date has cost £74 billion of taxpayers money.

how about that for a start?

If the original poster wants to ** and moan- if you dont want to pay x per hour for a solicitor to handle your divorce.

Dont get married and divorced in the first place. All your own doing

Oh dear.

I'm afraid the quality of new entrants into the law is depressingly low. I blame a lack of bullying at school.

When your rate is £395 + VAT an hour you can boast ( wife told me to type that )
Report Guesser • November 29, 2009 5:55 PM GMT
cooperman I did it myself too. If it goes to court and you need a barrister the bills will get much bigger. Give them the sack.

I was just about to say the same thing. "A fool and his money are soon parted" sums up 99% of blokes who get married.

And the original poster should ask himself this: would he rather give his money to his solicitor or his bítch of a wife?

Had a massive fall out with solicitors my family had dealt with for over 50 years. Charged me a grand for doing virtullay nothing getting most of it wrong and then quitting half way through it.
Best bit was he couldnt understand why I had a problem paying his bill. The argument went on for ages and he spent more time trying to justify his fees than he spent on the work.
If anyone knows of a solicitor who can do the job you want in a sensible time span without charging you a fortune please let me know.

Report bix • November 30, 2009 5:13 PM GMT
Solicitors just love divorce cases particularly if there's a property with loads of equity. They can keep it going for ages and if it started out amicably you'll still end up fighting like cat and dog by the end. But by that time you wont see much of the equity that was coming your way after you've paid the bill.
Probate another good earner for them if there's plenty in the estate.
