1. The door snake. What a fantastic invention. Sounds ridiculous, looks slightly stupid, but shaves valuable pounds off the heating bill :D

The kettle. There's little risk in pouring warm water onto car windows. By warm I don't mean lifting the kettle off its base about three seconds before the click. ;)
