that doesnt need the disc to be in to play it?

i mean good as in good, not free. tried several free ones and theyre far too easy to beat.

been looking on amazon but none of the software ever says if you can play it without the disc, i really cant cant be bothered messing about swapping discs all the time just to play a game.

there plenty about justgoogle them,

You better though to join ICC the internet chess club. You can have a free trial for a week before deciding to join or not. You can play people or machines , there always loads of computerws you can play at many different time limits

Circular chess is played mainly in Lincoln ... at the tap and spile pub ..

They hold the world champs there every year !!

A few of the members of the regular lincoln chess club have won it - so it is mainly a bit of fun.

For normal chess Fritz is the definitive chess game - and unless you are very good it should easily be able to beat you with or without a disk in.

Arena is the interface, some of the download links will come with the actual engines. These were state of the art only a few years ago, you will have to be very good to beat them.
(It will take some getting used to).

Might be a bit more serious than you want, it is well beyond me by a very long way.

(But chess is not usually very pc because when you pick you hope to be white)
