Isn't this going to have a happy ending like War Games where the pentagon computer learns how you can't win at Noughts & Crosses, there is no war in Iraq & Afghanistan and Gary gets to sleep with teh cute lawyer who is defending him

Hear Hear.
The alleged crime has been committed and the due processes of appeal have been undertaken His recently-diagnosed Aspergers Syndrome may be used as a mitigating factor, but it's wrong to say it's a reason why he should not stand trial. |

If they had any sense they'd give him a job looking after the security of their system.

easy target and typical of cowardly British Government to give in to USA government when it wont be reciprocated.
Look at all the viruses, worms, spyware and even worse spam going around, most of it emanating from US IP addresses. Nothing is done about those but then USA profits from spam. |

^ Spot on - British and US governments picking on the weak and vulnerable members of society (yet again).

I agree with roger, Roger and green willow.

Depends on how bad he's got Asperger's. Like schizophrenia, its made worse by psychological stress. He could end up having a permanent panic attack.
By:
before he was caught he was probally bragging to everyone how clever he is
By:
He wasn't, he was isolated in a darkened room, unwwashed, not eating or sleeping properly and connected to the internet 24/7. You would think he'd get more sympathy on here.
By:
Since he was hacking into NASA computers to expose their cover-up of UFO landings, McKinnon may well be a pork pie short of the full picnic.
By:
Did he ever call himself a Lone Gunman?
By:
Be 3 years in jail before it comes to court.Still.so long as it doesn't damage "the special relationship",who cares?
By:
Should take it like a man BUT..i can understand him not wanting 3 yrs as some gangsta rappers "wife" while he awaits trial.
If he could go overt there and thed guarantee him bail until the eharing he should take his chances.Plead total ignorance and just go for the huge apology and he may even get the media behind him and end up with some community sentence or a v short stretch. |
By:
Surely they want to give him a job? If we can extradite him, why cant we send Abu "no handsa" Hamza to and all the other Muslim extremists to Gitmo?
By:
There's a problem right there in that I have never heard him once express a shred of remorse, despite the media coverage he has been given and his seemingly intelligent and articulate appraisal of his case.
Instead he's wanting to re-write international law and have his case heard in the UK and his mum is forever on whatever media outlet will have her, banging on about his Aspergers - a condition which only came to light once he was arrested for this alleged crime |
By:
Is Aspergers one of these made up modern "diseases"? as an excuse for social inadequacy and the work shy? i wonder how mnay on permamanet sick suffer this ailment?
By:
Why should we extradite the bloke? We bow and scrape to everything the yanks demand. Personally I'd tell them to fck off and remind them of the numerous IRA murderers they refused to extradite to us.

A lot of unemployed people have psychiatric illness but haven't got a diagnosis, so aren't 'on the sick'.
Asperger's is an 'autism spectrum disorder', which involves abnormalities in the GABA and oxytocin neurotransmitter systems. There's a lot of overlap with schizophrenia and many people have symptoms of both conditions. |
By:
aspergers is part of the autistic spectrum,my kid is autistic, this is not a laughing matter,if one of your kids had this disorder you would realise how serious this is,the us are out of order, this guy will not last 10 minutes in us prison

If he could go overt there and thed guarantee him bail until the eharing he should take his chances.Plead total ignorance Tough to plead ignorance when you have hacked into 97 seemingly inpenetrable military computers. |
By:
Jordi, are you saying people with aspergers don't know the difference between right and wrong?
I'm not unsympathetic to people with the condition, but you can't go round doing what you want when you know it is wrong and then play the 'I've got aspergers' card. |

aspergers is part of the autistic spectrum,my kid is autistic, this is not a laughing matter,if one of your kids had this disorder you would realise how serious this is,the us are out of order, this guy will not last 10 minutes in us prison ah 3 mins and the first bite! I was merely wondering what the condition was.as ive only ever heard it banded about in "sickness" related talk,i'm not doubting in its serious form it is indeed a condition but surely IF this guy does have it does it can he really plead innocence for all the hacking? does he have previous form? |
By:
I don't think he should get off entirely. I'm sure he knew he was doing wrong. But it is a mitigating factor. Asperger's cases don't have the same 'radars' as normal people, and the degree to which this is true varies considerably from case to case. Hard to know how he should be dealt with, though.
By:
So if I had a bad case of aspergers could I go to the Brit awards and lick the flanges of Girls Aloud and the Saturdays under the table expecting to get away with it to a greater extent than someone without the condition?
By:
people who have autism in general dont know right from wrong ,dont understand danger, its a nightmare
dont know how bad this guy is tbf,but if he is bad its out of order by us goverment |
By:
my boy would walk into a shop pick up drink and crisp and just walk out without paying, the thing is he looks like a normal boy but he isnt ,its a nightmare,i wouldnt whish this on anyone, the same for all familys who haver to deal with this condition
By:
I can appreciate what you are saying. However, whilst he doesn't seem to appreciate the danger of what he has done, he does seem to appreciate the danger of being extradited to, and sentenced in, America.
It's a bit choosy on the what he thinks is dangerous front don't you think? |
By:
He is trying it on because he is scared of facing justice. Bad luck.
By:
roger they dont understand right from wrong, i do fear for him
By:
the us goverment picking on weak again, they are such bullies, but there time is comin g to an end
By:
Irrespective of his fitness to stand trial, the treaty under which he was/is being extradited is nothing short of a disgrace. There is no way on earth that the US would hand us one of their citizens on the equivalent charge. On that basis, even if the Asperger's thing is a complete fabrication (which I doubt), I say good luck to the guy.
By:
why does england always get on all 4s for usa and take the pain all the time
By:
History Maker is dead right. That treaty is one of Blair's abortions.
We should have no extradition treaty with any country that maintains concentration camps as the yankee states of america do. We should have no extradition treaty with any country that does not reciprocate fully. We should never, under any circumstances, extradite a British citizen for a crime committed in this country. If you do it here, you do the time here. |

Is Aspergers one of these made up modern "diseases"? as an excuse for social inadequacy and the work shy? i wonder how mnay on permamanet sick suffer this ailment? No it isn't you stupid cvnt. If you want afull explanation of exactly what it's like to live with an autistic child I'll be glad to provide one. Face to face if you like. |
By:
the rest of europe think the us are a bunch of**smokers and have told them but england is different still on its knees waiting with open mouth
By:
paddy people dont understand these conditions because they have been hidden away for years, you will get posters saying he work shy ect
By:
Yes, you're right Jordi. To be fair I very rarely allow even the most boneheaded comments to rile me.. but occasionally one slips under the radar! :)
By:
so do you have a kid with autism paddy

His mental condition only became apparent when the Americans came after him, coincidence?
I can't understand the outpouring of sympathy for him, if he doesn't want to be extradited to America, don't commit crimes against America. |
