Well he's got the same weight as he had 2 years ago & prob the same field opponent wise! Why can't he stage a repeat?

Haha i'm hopeless on the horsies, but i shall back Barbers Shop for a few pennies, secretly hoping Denman repeats that fabulous 2007 performance which led to my biggest horse bet ever in the Gold Cup ;)

Can't get into these Kauto/Best Mate type horses that run thrice a year and are trained to the moment...you get the feeling that the machine Denman would run all over them 50 weeks out of 52...a proper horse imo

The year Kauto won his first Gold Cup, he had 6 runs that season!

Yeah Cooldine was impressive but they went hammer and tong up front that day and a few of his main rivals jumped poorly. He wasn't very good at Punchestown tho a month later.

With Kauto ageing think this is going to be his last season where he can still perform to near his best. Would like to see him go out with a bang with the Gold Cup and King George tbh. Think the race on Saturday could finish him off, lacked the sparkle he had last season so if not performing Saturday can only see him having one or two more runs.

Think next year their will be a big gap to fill in the 3m chasers divison, Cooldine may be upto the task but only time will tell I suppose.

What an odd post?? Kauto last year had an easy ru out at 2/5 fust race then was really under pressure when fell 2nd race.Yeah before i think he touched of l'ami(possibly) in his 1st race.

Nicholls like his horses a tad "burly" first time out and i dont think age will weary Kauto just yet.

Denman is indeed burly again and its great to see the horse looking his old self after last years shows.Though for a horse that clearly wasnt 100% last year after injury etc and a real fitness struggle ran a very game gold cup and was upsides when he fell at aintree on last appearance.Even his below par show against a rampant MDB was still a good 2nd in hindsight.

If he's back to his very best he COULD take this lot apart however if he's 90% fit which is more likely i think a place is more likley in a v strong field.Would like to have seen Thomas on him as i think he gets on betetr with him than Ruby.
