Whenever i go into google images and type in the search box for somehting all the icons are blank and show no images. It is the same on Internet explorer and Firefox.
I dont have google images disabled and the cache is empty. I have my internet settings set on Medium as recommended.
I dont know what to do to be able to access images. Google Help really isnt helping and was hoping others might have had a similiar problem and know how to go about rectifying it.

strange, i know theres an option in firefox that if selected, doesnt show images on websites
but no idea tbh |

try clearing out your temp internet files and cookies....i know it's lame but you might have a dodgy cookie from google fvcking things up...

yeah ive emptied the history and temp files. totally empty and still nothing...
This hasnt just happened overnight, it has happened ever since i had the comp but never really bothered me. Now i wanna use it i cant :( |

three questions...what operating system are u using...what service pack level are you at...what version of internet explorer are you using...?

...and one more question...if you have jpegs stored on ur hard drive and u open one what program opens it ?

its just the google images icons, if i clicked on one of the blank icons it would open to the actual picture but i have to go into each and everyone icon to see if its the picture i wanted! quite annoying

if you're using IE goto tools, internet options then click advanced and make sure show pictures is selected in the multimedia section of the options

ok...i don't use vista but i can get you to where i think you want to be...go to this link and follow the instructions...i think ur problem is that the default program for opening jpegs is incorrect and needs to be changed from whatever it is to 'Windows Picture and Fax Viewer'...i can't really talk you through it any better as i don't have vista in front of me to refer to....

Look in the file extensions list for jpeg, jpg, and gif....make sure all are handled by the windows picture and fax viewer and not something else..

i have been into the link, and followed the instructions as best i can make them out. but cant see where it is exactly to change the file extension. As its not something on the computer its from a particular website..
Im lost :| Thanks for all the help though SB, has helped me understand a little and understand how little i know fo my own comp |

when i look at the file extensions that i can see for jpeg, jpg and gif they all use Windows Photo Gallery. The only other options are Paint, Pictureviewer orMicrosoft office picture manager..
should i use any of those instead or is it on the correct one? |

It appears that Windows Photo Gallery is Vista's replacement for the picture and fax viewer so you appear to have the right default file handler correct...so the plot thickens...
You say it's never worked since day 1.... correct ? |

correct...
i mean i go to google images, type in what i want.. say MARILYN MONROE and all the icons come up blank. if i went into one of the balnk icons the picture would be there! If i waited on the maion screen with all the blank icons there for 5 mins the little red cross would then appear in the corner of each icon. |

i have had a page on google image open for the last hour nothing has worked whatever ive tried... so just left the page as it was. Now ive gone back to it, click one of the blank icons and come back out and all the images are there!!! WTF

Yeah...I know what ur seeing...when u click on an icon it then takes you to the website where that image appears...try this link....but just try updating java first, and see what happens...if u get stuck then shout back and i'll help you through it....
