I,ll miss them if they go under today.Thought it were a great concept, read a few mags/books listen to a cd before buying and have a coffee upstairs !Hope they survive

The reason they'll sink is simple, they charge top whack for everything they sell, no discount, so people go in, browse, see what they fancy, then go and buy it on Amazon on Play for half the price, simples.

Sad story. One of the few civilised places left on the High Street.
Tragically and inevitably doomed to fail though in a country which increasingly prefers sending text messages saying 'I'm in the nail bar and then I'm going for a coffee' or Twittering away to a disinterested world with observations like 'I just had a legendary sausage roll, like totally awesome'. |

agree alun, i always used to pop in to borders when in town, bought loads of cd,s after 1st listening to them there.I didnt think the prices were that bad tbh.

My local Borders was huge, like half an aircraft hangar. Spent many an afternoon in there.
Now have to wrestle with the hoards at Waterstones, which had shut down when Borders opened but opened again after Borders shut down! |
