... that is located in Hong Kong?

I'm considering the bit of computer kit listed below, but am slightly concerned it might be a scam of some sort.

Bought plenty from hong kong no issues at all and crazy prices including postage.. takes about 5-7 days to receive but its about as quick as some uk sellers send them out.

Have bought a couple of low cost electric items and both times there has been a problem. You probably know this, but at least if you pay through Paypal you are covered automatically through Ebay for up to £500 (or you were last time I looked).

All you need do is look at the feedback.. that guy has over 18,000
98%+ positive.. you will never please everyone and you'll find the ones from hong kong in particular a few negatives will be slow delivery where people dont read/realise its coming from hong kong.

So it's a myth you may have to pay fee's like import tax etc? This has always
put me off ordering from Hong Kong
Report heed the baw November 24, 2009 8:05 PM GMT
i dont know if its a myth but i never paid import tax and im sure most people dont
Report Five By Five November 24, 2009 8:06 PM GMT
not sure how it works on expensive items but you dont on 'cheapish' items as all sellers will mark them as a gift.
Report spyker November 24, 2009 8:45 PM GMT
You have to pay tax on anything worth £18 or more and I have been charged on something I bought from the US but it is hit and miss. You can be pretty sure that anything bought from HK/China that is much cheaper than it should be is a counterfeit - doesn't mean it's any worse as they are made in the same factories (or at least 1 down the road!).
Report everythings gone green November 24, 2009 8:57 PM GMT
I've never paid any tax on items from HK.

Virtually everything I've bought from the US has been collared.
Report backtolay November 24, 2009 9:55 PM GMT
Nothing from China ever has any import tax on it, I think the Chinese government turns a blind eye to it because it's helping their economy. I've had stuff off Ebay from China no problems however when you get it and check it out properly it's nearly always really nasty cheaply made tat.
Report Ovalman. November 24, 2009 10:05 PM GMT
I've bought several times from www.dealextreme.com

I've waited sometimes 3 weeks but the stuff has always arrived.

I've bought over 50 items from DX.

If its coming from China use DHL, get the Sender to Write "Gift" on the customs label and and Undervalue it, otherwise it could get impounded while you pay the extra Dutie`s !!!!!!!!.
Report Early Morning Riser November 25, 2009 9:22 PM GMT
sid, every item i have had from hong kong allways has gift written on the package.
