Had a most pleasant roast in a pub called the appletree just outside of Cheltenham.
Finnished off by a sumptious rhubbarb crumble. |

I'm concentrating getting everything ready for next season. Its a big commitment and a lot of hard work. I underestimated the work that went into it and I don't have that large of a plot. I bought some seeds for over wintering but I won't bother, I'd rather concentrate getting my 20 or so beds ready for next year.
Everything above the ground was superb this year (Peas, Beans etc.) and everything below the ground (Onions, beetroot, carrots etc.) worked really well but everything on the ground like Cabbages and Cauli were eaten by caterpillars. Its a trial and error process and I won't make the same mistakes. Thanks for asking. How's it going on your end? |

I'm afraid I don't get involved oval. My parents do loads of it. Reckon my mother has about a dozen different fruits, from apples to figs and loads of berries in between. My Dad has got swede and chard and cabbages, and still some lettuce coming through. Is largely on the wind down for winter now, sproutswill be pickable soon I suspect. He picked a lot of his beans and peas in one go and froze them. I was most impressed wth their asparagus and artichokes, twotradtinally pricey veg,but he produced loads of them with hardly any work they just grow and grow year after year *(after the initil work/outlay) and they made the tastiest soup imaginable. They areboth retired now so putting loads of work into it. Good luck with your efforts, seems lik your going alright. Someone told me that anyhing you produce in your first year is a bonus.

Apple Tree is a good pub Eboue - have been there a few times.
Have you ever been to the Teddington Hands near Tewkesbury? They do a fantastic Sunday roast. |
