It is up there in my 'top 5 worst films I've ever seen' list.

A disgrace of a film.

Complete waste of time.
Report Gary Binosh November 21, 2009 10:04 PM GMT
does it really need an '' IN RUNNING '' thread ?

Report tobermory November 21, 2009 10:06 PM GMT
silence of the lambs awesome film

'Hannibal' was laughable rubbish

I expect this will be more on the level of the 2nd one
Report Mr Eboue November 21, 2009 10:06 PM GMT
It is beyond woeful tobermory.

Even worse than that Red dragon bilge.
Report Gary Binosh November 21, 2009 10:10 PM GMT
Silence of the Lambs was very good though
Report Mr Eboue November 21, 2009 10:11 PM GMT
Better than 'very good' imo.

An outstanding fillum.
Report Gary Binosh November 21, 2009 10:12 PM GMT
not that good
Report tobermory November 21, 2009 10:12 PM GMT
I think the problem was the author, Thomas Harris , had really run out of ideas after the 2nd book (Silence..) , but he was offered so much money he just couldn't resist, and so turned out any old nonsense which led to those 2 awful films.

Thinly veiled ''I **t my pants whilst watching it'' from Binosh there.
Report Gary Binosh November 21, 2009 10:13 PM GMT
its understandable

like if friends got back together it would probably be embarrasing but for all that money it would be hard to say no to

The film got slated - but the book was OK. As for the second Hannibal film - the book was really about how we all become corrupted by small steps/lapses until we're melting our granny into soap and eating our firstborn (with a hint of garlic). A bit like your first post on here - reply to a thread on what's your favourite vegetable and before you know it, you're sodomizing babycakes and/or fresh.

Also the second book( but strangely, not the film!) dealt with the political power of the American meat industry. Such as Acts of Congress to allow a certain amount of animal faeces into the meat - hey, the little brutes tend to relax their sphincters on being slaughtered. And where do you think swine flu came from?
Report bodil November 21, 2009 10:29 PM GMT
Wasn't a smart career move by Gong Li though. But I expect she was well paid - so that's all right.
Report bodil November 21, 2009 10:56 PM GMT
So, you do/don't agree?
Report bodil November 21, 2009 11:05 PM GMT
Wake up! Or I'll get nasty.

Report bodil November 21, 2009 11:16 PM GMT
Surely I don't frighten you that much? I just want a discussion and then to suck your life-blood and eat your skin.
Report Gary Binosh November 21, 2009 11:20 PM GMT
aaaaaaahhh :(
Report bodil November 21, 2009 11:28 PM GMT
Almost enough - but not quite...
Report Pokermonster November 21, 2009 11:30 PM GMT
The director of the Hannibal film decided that Thomas Harris's ending was too unrealistic (Lecter's long-term sedation of Starling leading her to fall in love with him).

He consequently altered the closing reel to portray Lecter chopping his own hand off (rather than Starling's) to avoid capture. This was even more unrealistic in my view; Harris's creation was the ultimate sociopath.
Report bodil November 21, 2009 11:37 PM GMT
I think I detected 2 serial killers on here. I wasn't one of them.
Report Pokermonster November 21, 2009 11:38 PM GMT

You wouldn't kill a fly.
Report Dan Chipowski November 21, 2009 11:41 PM GMT
The original Manhunter movie was by far the best of the lot.
Report Pokermonster November 21, 2009 11:42 PM GMT
That's true actually. I don't.
Report Gary Binosh November 21, 2009 11:42 PM GMT
no he would bodil

likes to make his mark! prefers killing humans
Report Gary Binosh November 21, 2009 11:42 PM GMT
wouldnt*
Report Pokermonster November 21, 2009 11:45 PM GMT
I thought Manhunter was reasonably good, too, Dan. Brian Cox played a menacing Lecter.

Silence of the Lambs better in my book, though.
Report bodil November 21, 2009 11:45 PM GMT
I know the 2. One has never posted after I thanked him for reminding me (I remembered the other). Which has been sort of a giveaway.
Report bodil November 21, 2009 11:49 PM GMT
Cox was good. The Welsh alcoholic was slightly more sinister.

Mind you, I could probably frighten you as much, if i put my mind to it. Fortunately my mind is mostly destroyed.
Report Pokermonster November 21, 2009 11:51 PM GMT
I met a murderer once; he was also a transvestite. That was mildly unsettling.
Report Pokermonster November 21, 2009 11:53 PM GMT
Small man, but very handy with a knife apparently.
Report bodil November 21, 2009 11:53 PM GMT
There is such a thin line between almost all of us becoming murderers. We should sincerely hope not to meet that line.
Report Pokermonster November 21, 2009 11:55 PM GMT
Ah, very true Bodil. But who can help gazing wistfully across it occasionally, eh?
Report bodil November 22, 2009 12:11 AM GMT
