I remember watching a programme in the 80`s when some Professor of media predicted that the arrival of satellite tv and hundreds of channels would result in downturn in quality programming and that most of the channels would be filled with drivel. How right he was.
There is so much rubbish on tv nowadays and I can only think that John Logie Baird is turning in his grave. :( |
|
By:
you can tell how the quality has changed cos if repeats of stuff you didnt really bother watching years ago...when theyre on now...like dads army etc...are the best things on tv now! tv these days is pathetic. its not just the quality its the quantity, there are virtually no new shows even being made.

There were - on average - better progs in those days. Maybe the ghost of Lord Reith still frightened the makers. The US independents make stunning progs today - far better than anything currently on this side of the Atlantic - but that was then and this is now. Reality progs and "audience participation" and the race to the bottom have pretty much sunk UK efforts. Life, the current Attenborough effort, is outstanding but that's about it. We should kill 1 in 5 of the BBC top-paid staff to encourage the others.
