how many sales you need for a Gold / Platium record?

think you can get to number one with about 150,000?? may aswell buy em all yourself and become a multi-millionaire from the publicity.

Varies week on week, after xmas 50,000 sales might be enough to get number one, I think the lowest was something like 30,000 a few years ago.

30,000? blimey. only problem is if they find out you bought em all you get disqualified i think

may look a bit suspicious going in hmv and asking if you can have 30,000 cd's! :)

Yeah, they try and monitor it, I'm not sure how. I guess with downloads now contributing there are other avenues that can be taken too!
