Let me guess, you like Cheryl Cole and any other bird whose looks good, but her voice, fwiw, is drowned out by bass notes.

Let me guess, you like Cheryl Cole and any other bird whose looks good, but her voice, fwiw, is drowned out by bass notes. i like nina simone, joni mitchell amongst others. I don't hardly know any modern singers tbh. You should know better than to make assumptions. Shirley Bassey is simply awful imo. |

By:
I can only name one record by Nina Simone - I Got Life, and one by Joni Miitchell- Big Yello Taxi (?)
I could easily name 20 by Shirley Bassey. All a matter of personal taste, but I think you're in the minority there. |

"Ain't Got No, I Got Life" 2:17
"My Baby Just Cares for Me" 3:37 "Feeling Good" 2:52 "I Put a Spell on You" 2:34 "I Loves You Porgy" 4:10 "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" 2:42 "The Look of Love" 2:22 "I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free" 3:08 "I Want a Little Sugar in My Bowl" 2:32 "Do I Move You" 2:45 "Do What You Gotta Do" 3:35 "To Be Young, Gifted and Black" 2:48 "Since I Fell for You" 2:49 "Nobody's Fault But Mine" 2:58 "I Think It's Going to Rain Today" 3:20 "Sinnerman" 10:21 "The Times They Are a-Changin'" 5:59 "Mr. Bojangles" 4:59 "Here Comes the Sun" 3:33 "To Love Somebody" 2:39 For a start. Don't know how many of them were here originals, not many no doubt, but all the bo.llx imo. Best versio of Mr Bojangles or Here Comes the Sun I've ever heard. Shirley Bassey? give me a break. |

did bassey write many songs? ha ha.
here comes the sun by harrison i think mr bojangles as good as traditional imo the times they are a changing one of the masters' lesser songs imo. of course she ddn't write songs, not many women do tbh |

Bob and Marcia, Big Charlie.

Mr Bojangles is an all time great song. Yet Nina's version is the best, by a distance, against some stiff competition imo. That is how good she is.

Basseys been in the business for over 50 years and has an army of fans.
I liked Dusty Springfields voice as well. Elaine Page can belt one out. Wouldn't give you tuppence for Cilla Black, Helen Shapiro, Lulu or Sandy Shaw, but they had number 1s. |

I disagree with you on Lulu. Thinks she is pretty good. Dusty best British singer in my lifetime (43 years)
