Take care Sid. If you are genuinely in difficulty then take some time away, it will change your life, i'm speaking from experience :)

Good luck.

Threads like this one are sad in a way because the thread starter is at a point low enough to announce to the world that he's broke. There are those that will empathise and there are those that will take the p!ss. What goes around comes around p!sstakers.

For some on here it's more of an illness than anything else that drives them on. Whenever anyone mentions the 'thrill' or 'buzz' of placing a big bet the alarm bells ring. Some people on here do make it pay and that's undeniable but it takes money to make money. I've tried with 10k banks before today and frankly it didn't work out. You have to make the mistakes first, costly as they may be, before you find the right way for you.

I wish Sid all the best and the same goes for all the other Sids who are still in the closet. This is a rich mans game and by virtue of that fact it's the reason why so many fail. Best of luck to all those still in the game.

It's difficult to ascertain if sid does actually lose all this money but if he does he should walk away and never look back

Just popped in during a rare brake- I gave a lot of my time to a thread with 8sid a few weeks ago- I couselled him to seek help. I gave him lots of advice. And here he is again having lost even more. I urged him to seek help- he said that his family didnt even know about his huge losses.
This man needs help. I hope he seeks it this time.

Good luck 8sid with your life, try and salvage something. But never again place a bet- EVER!

Just noticed that you lose your money on Casino.

Now as we all know it's not a Casino at all but operates akin to fruit machines and randomness with a built in edge, plus the near miss psychology that drags people in.

If you play 'em a lot then you know your day ,emotions and how you feel in general will be dictated by pure luck. No skill at all. Your whole day is decided by pure luck and a computer and you have no input in how it turns out.

To have no plan of action , suffer random highs and lows in minutes will ' feck anybody's brain up, mate' Then you've gotta contend with a massive loss that seemed inconceivable 10 mins ago when you hit a good win. It's too rapid.

Get self excluded and leave your finances in the hands of trusted ones.
A weight WILL be lifted off your shoulders mate.

Good luck again.

Sad, good luck, but as was already said, give it up forever and each day that you don't gamble, makes the next day a bit easier. Like any addiction really.

This is a rich mans game and by virtue of that fact it's the reason why so many fail

That's not true. If you discount the size of the minimum bet (which people can work around anyway) and the lack of any commission discount for those with a small bank, it's no more difficult to get a certain percentage increase of a £10 bank than it is to get the same percentage increase with a bank of £1m.

(Of course, we are assuming that liquidity allows the big player to match the bets he wants to)

People's inability to view their 'banks' as a percentage figure and desperation to win big that is expressed in that statement is actually more to do with why addicts always lose.

My statement, italicised above, wasn't fully qualified in my original post. What I was trying to say was that the vast majority on here do it for a hobby so it isn't their primary source of income - they have jobs. Some on here are plain addicted and will bet on two flies crawling up a wall. Both these subsets of the whole betfair punting population in the main have not set themselves up for success because their daily bread doesn't depend on them being successful here. The pro punters will have a whole different approach and part of that approach will undoubtedly be having a large chunk of dough as a starting point.

Above you stated "it's no more difficult to get a certain percentage increase of a £10 bank than it is to get the same percentage increase with a bank of £1m." - in a world of unlimited liquidity that is fairly accurate but consider the following scenario - take punter A and give him a bank of 10k and take punter B and give him a bank of 200k and tell them they must make a living for a year with no other income except for betting on betfair. Now - for the 10k guy to succeed he's gonna have to generate a waaay bigger % increase of his bank than the guy with 200k so there's the problem right there. That means more bets for punter A, more exposure to risk, discipline & patience goes right out the window when your back is against the wall. That's what I meant by a rich man's game - you will lose bank after bank after bank if you don't have a decent wad to start with.
