And at football. Every time there's a bit of action they get the mobile phone out. What is the obsession with recording every aspect of your lives these days? Why cling to the past, like odysseus escaping from Polyphemus' cave, clinging to the belly of the ram? A worrying sign of mental ilness imo.

Flags are more annoying at festivals.

I have no idea why people feel the need to film/photo themselves every time they go out the door and then stick it up of stalkbook. 'Look here's one of me gurning in a pub', 'Look here's another one of me gurning in the same pub with a pint in my hand'. 'Here's one of me crossing the road from one pub to another' and on and on on and on......

It's crazy that so many people seem to waste their time recording whats happening instead of just watching and enjoying it, all for the sake of getting an almost unwatchable clip of what they're missing.

Flags at Glastonbury this year Think the BBC have had a word after the camera debacle with Springsteen |

flags etc have been banned from isle of wight festival for last few years and it definitely lot better... They are pretty hot on people sitting on shoulders also especially near the front.. the main 'bouncer' is a bit of a legend around here :)

I think it's the fear of the future and (probably death) that people have to keep images that prove to themselves and others that they have existed.
Also, it is to the detrement of our language. People can not describe a wonderful goal, or a beautiful sunset. Instead they take a picture or film it and say merely: "Look at that". How depressing. |

The thing is, at Glastonbury, you walk to the Park stage, the Avalon stage, the Dance stage
there's no television cameras...........and guess what........no flags |

I avoid the pyramid wherever possible but flags are much in evidence on the other stage and jazz world.
I don't think they'll "ban" them though, the only thing I've known them ban is glass bottles. |
