Is this the only job in Britain where mistakes are made?
By:
Is plucking 20 or so tragedies over 50 years (when there have been endless thousands of success stories unnoticed by the News Of The World over the same time) representative of a decline iyo?
By:
No, but it appears to be the only one where you don't get punished for said mistakes
compensation and promotion are more likely than being sacked or facing charges owners of railways can be charged with corporate manslaughter when it's shown their negligence resulted in loss of life, why should councils be any differant? |

tragedies ?
you fcukin serious? tragic that for 8 months scores of people knew the little one was in serious trouble yet failed to act on it? tragedy doesn't cover it representative of decline? hardly improving are they anyone who doesn't want to see more than the three people in the house punished for this is ga ga imo |
By:
my 12yr old asked why didnt anyone do anything about it
'leave it son, 1000s of babies every year are saved by these people, besides it was a mistake, they're only human' 'but 8 months dad?' 'yeah well son, these things take time, gotta to be sure before you accuse anyone of anything' 'he had a broken back, 8 broken ribs, covered in bruises, teeth missing, ear ripped off, lip hanging off, lice, scabies, finger nails missing and finger tip missing dad? 'don't worry son, it won't happen again' |

"tragic that for 8 months scores of people knew the little one was in serious trouble yet failed to act on it? tragedy doesn't cover it"
it is just social services your gripe is with isnt it? btw, do you know what a social worker does? |
By:
Like i've said before, why not just disband social services altogether Marcus eh, got to be much better off then you**.
It's the**bag f uckwits who commit the crimes that need to be made to pay. |

no, i've expressed my feelings on other threads but just for your benefit: The health minister Patricia Hewitt, junior health ministers Rosie Winterton and Ivan Lewis, David Lammy, the local MP for Tottenham are also accountable. They were warned, via lawyers, 6 mths before the little one's death that there were serious failings at Haringey Council - they chose not to act. The paediatrician who examined the baby two days before he died and failed to notice a broken back alongside the numerous other injuries was negligent in the extreme - has to be held to account. btw, do you know what a social worker does? yes, read the title again, it says 'social services' like i've said before, why not just disband social services altogether Marcus eh, got to be much better off then you ****. not sure why you're calling me a ****? what have i done? i'm saddened and disgusted by what happened and human nature dictates i'm going to be angry, at a lot of people, why does that make me a ****? It's the**bag f uckwits who commit the crimes that need to be made to pay. of course they need to pay, life should mean life for these lowlife (but it won't) - however these people will always exist, they know no better and for that reason we have a 'system' that ought to protect innocents from them but the 'system' palpably failed in this case - as with numerous other cases highlighted make ALL the people responsible for the toddler's death pay and not just the vermin in the house if that's too extreme for some of you to bear well so be it |

Fashion Fever, yeah no tennis on so i'd thought i'd whip up a bit of controversy on the chit-chat forum in relation to the torture and murder of a 17 mth old baby
By:
all of the replies on this thread sum up the reason why in 2008 a 17 mth baby can be horrifically murdered over a period of 8 mths under the noses of those who were supposed to protect
not a single one of you has expressed any anger or vitriol toward the people involved, only at me for daring to say the support system in this country is anything but i'd say unbelievable but it's not |
By:
yep, well done, talking about it on a gambling forum is gonna do good! either do something proper about it or stop preaching
By:
i'll talk about it where and when i like m8
By:
and so will everyone else, which is exactly my point
By:
i don't get your point at all
it's late at night, i'm not a member of any other forum, i feel strongly about it, why shouldn't i discuss the merits, or lack of, of the social service system in this country i'm not using emotive language, i'm not asking for people to be hung, drawn and quartered, i'm not preaching, i'm merely saying that imho everyone in this case should be investigated for any possible criminal neglect |
By:
i guess, in summary, my initial point was that the social service system is failing and has done for many a year now, something other than an internal enquiry, a few slapped wrists and job relocations ought be done
a complete shake-up if you like there are people in roles of responsibility in this country whose ineptitude at their job is costing lives i'm hardly chest-thumping think i'll leave it at that and let you chit-chat boys get on with the more serious discussions of life, such as should one wipe one's own ar$e standing-up or sitting down laters |

wow can't believe the stick the man marcus is getting :O
you tree huggers need to get a grip it's not marcus's fault for bringing it up it's not the NOTWs fault for highlighting it something tragic happened and it could of been prevented, these people should be hanging thier heads in shame, not getting the warm rub on the back from the sympathy brigade. and things aint improving at all,as a paid up member of the nspcc things are no different now as they was then, still the same clowns. overworked? no just under qualified but we have to give people equal oppurtunity so the tree huggers are happy. and if they are by any chance up to speed on qualifications then, they may do a little better if they keep away from the free the bi-sexual dwarf meetings, and realise these kids aint gay "YET" shocking as it sounds to them. mistakes were made from communication breakdowns in the past, well technology has moved on but things ain't improving,as long as we feed the need of the tree huggers and pc brigade this will always happen, whilst your carer is more interested in banning smoking in public, but trying to legalise cannabis then sorry kid you have no chance of not being a victim of neglect. |

Why did you bring it back, buzzer ?

This is too upsetting a subject for me. I wouldn't read about this at the time because I knew it would get me down.
Now, having read this thread, I wish i hadn't. It's the feeling of helplessness and sorrow and the knowledge that it will happen again and no matter how much we vent our anger wont change the fact that even if there was a social worker for every five children in the country, sooner or later another one will ''slip through the net,'' |
By:
i think it was five by five who bought it back earlier, no idea why
