heard today from a colleague that yes the service is free and yes it doesn't affect your policy, however if you change insurance companies and obviously get another quote from them the autoglass job counts as a claim, therefore pushing your premium up?

my son had his windscreen replaced through his insurer but he had to pay the 1st £90, but it wasnt classed as a claim on his insurance and he's changed insurers since.

I had a chip repaired for free by them once. I was convinced it would be a scam where they said "unrepairable" and then got the business of replacing full windscreen.

I guess they get a small fee from the insurance company, and it saves the insurance company in the long run from full replacement of the screen if it had cracked totally.
