phoned o2 today to say I wanted to upgrade my phone early. they told me to do that, i needed to pay my contract up to a month before it ends, and then take out a new one.
I asked why I wouldnt just take out a second contract run them in tandem, and then I would have 2 contracts so double minutes / texts etc. I was told it was because I would then be paying double. not strictly true - when overall the saving is just £30 - 1 months line rental.
so their offer to me, was a saving of 30 pounds and a loss of double mins / texts etc.
hardly a great offer (although one i know a lot of people would accept)
does anyone have any experience doing similar and getting a better and more acceptable offer. the end result is, i want to get the iphone - but now o2 are not a monopoly with the iphone, shouldnt they be trying a bit harder to keep my business?
any advice would be appreciated - preferably constructive, and not witty comments - although i will expect some :D
demand to go straight through to cancellations/customer retention
that is where all the deals are to be had with anything
they have their best sales people on cancellations as they hate losing customers
if they give you nothing, call their bluff and watch them ring you up the day after

7 months to go. so its a case of paying about 200.
what annoyed me was her saying you will be paying double - which as a monthly payment is correct, but overall, this is no kind of offer - but you know that a lot of people wouldnt think about the full picture of payments and just accepted.
as you can get the same deal on orange - i am not bothered about moving - coverage is all about the same to me
