I hope it's £500 a bottle, I'll save myself a fortune.

Lads, I was thinking of going up to Newry to stock up as down here in the south of Ireland, we call it rip off republic.
Anyone buy whiskey in the Uk lads!! |
|
By:
Slightly cheaper than the price around here. 70cl Bushmills about £20.

Thanks Captain.

I just bought a bottle of BenRiach (12-y-o Malt) for £22.
|

No problems Soapp. BenRiach is a nice Scottish Malt if you have never tried it before. Cheers mate.

Captain, Christmas presents etc!!
I only drink it on a Friday night after a few pints. Pints are a rip off down here too. 4.80 for a lager and 4.30 for a Guiness in my local. When I hit Holyhead and beyond the pint is only £2.50 for a lager. Maybe less in Witherspoons. |

That`s preety steep for a pint Soapp!! Pubs and Clubs are dying a death around here. Lucky if you get 2 or 3 folk in midweek and perhaps 20 at weekend. 15 years ago one couldn`t get a seat!! Super Markets taking over as UK becomes anti-social.

Tesco's ahd Whyte and Mackay whisky for £10 a bottle last week. I think they were 700ml bottles.
Was tempted but don't really like Whisky anyway. |

Captain, its the same here in Ireland.
Pubs on a Friday night 10 years ago were standing room only between 5.30 an 7.30. The alcos after that. Everything is starting to come down a little except the price of a pint or a short in the local. Bring Wetherspoons over here to shake up the market. Mind you that price 4.80 hasn't gone up either in the last 18 months or slightly more. |
|
By:
You would definetly save yourself a few quid in newry soapp although 17 is not bad for a bottle of bush. I was down in athlone for the weekend and couldn't believe some of the prices. Last time i was south it was 1.40 to the £
Tesco are currently doing 2 litres of bells, smirnoff, gordons or baileys for £25. |
|
By:
Cheers Johnny.
Good luck in the Jockeys Championship. I think you are 7 up with 4 meetings left. |

4.80 euro for a pint of lager in Dublin?
it's 2.50 euro for a pint of lager in my local, just about half the price complete rip off in Dublin by the sounds of it, we've never had it so good in the UK is it true that it's 200 euros a week for those unemployed in the republic of ireland? its about 80 euros a week here, those in the UK always complain about the unemployed |
|
By:
Yep the dole here is 200 odd.
with rip off prices over here that doesn't go far. Our budget is on December 9th. There is talk of reducing this. I can't see it happening. FFS, Our PM was on 360K up to recently. I think the politicians took a voluntary 10% cut 6 months ago. That was higher than Obama, Brown Sarkozy etc. No wonder our country is gone stoney broke!! |

Soapp, the reason why I heard about the E200 unemployed thing was because a mate told me that he knew an Irish person that would claim unemployment benefit
but stay in the UK because the goods were a lot cheaper here there you go UK folks!, Irish people spending Irish money in the UK, wahey! |
|
By:
that wasn't a dig at you soapp, honest
just a dig at people who constantly moan about the state of the UK on this forum, and its really dragging me down and I'm beginning to moan about it and defend the UK |
