Don't let the white teeths shut us down, visit our smokers only pub more often and leave a message or the minty fresh smilers will have beaten us in cyberspace as well as in the real world.

Went out for a drink friday. Mate called round and persuaded me against my better judgement. Standing under the smokers bit of tarpaulin in the garden was like being in an episode of bear grylls in the arctic.

The pubs should have made a stand for their best customers. F@ck em, I'm not drinking again until august. They can all go out of business for all I care.

Do you mean

or
the pub should have made a stand ?

I mean the pubs should have all informed their mp's that their best customers were smokers and that the TOTAL banning of a perfectly legal pastime is an outrageous denial of human rights that would be more understandable in a government run by Stalin or Mugabe.

I've been a non smoker for 5 yrs now and I think it was an abuse of human rights to ban smoking in pubs!

its gonna be a long , cold winter

ah- the sweet sweet smell of clean air and ale

Nothing quite like it

:)

Why not just go out for a few pints and - wait for it- NOT SMOKE?????

After all- its not as if any of you are addicted to the weed - you could give it up at any time - couldnt you. Corse you could. Yeah- any time at all.

All the time we're being told what we can and can't do and always under the guise that it's for our own good or protection. Keep letting the state remove our civil liberties, freedom of choice and right to be the masters of our own destiny and you will soon know what it's like living in a police state.

well done Hoss

trouble is: i suspect smoking may have damaged you in some way.

civil liberties are being PROTECTED thats right PROTECTED by banning smoking in all public places.

Its a balancing act - but on the whole - the vast majority of both smokers and non-smokers understand and accept the position. And welcome it.

Its a shame for you that you appear to be in the minority.
Bad luck.
:)

Oh - congrats on giving up the weed- a wise choice imo.

I know some who were so addicted to alcohol that they went to puibs despite the thick fog of smoke, and had the audacity to moan that they smelled like ashtrays when they came out.

Sad alcoholic cvnts.

lmfao, I'm sorry mate but I can't let you away with that. When the government brings out a law that prevents a proportion of the population from doing something which up until that time has been legal, then rightly or wrongly they are curtailing our civil liberties.

You can't pick out the bits you like and say they're okay, speed cameras, identity cards. Big Brother is watching you and slowly moulding you into the citizen they would like you to be.

How long before we all have a number tattooed on our arm?

I'm off out soon so can't answer any question but I'll be here tomorrow all day as I enjoy our little arguments :)

Agree with Corky. I have never been in a pub since the day of the ban (a year earlier here). The publicans and their association made NO EFFORT at all to fight this draconian imposition - so sod em - not one penny will they get from me (and I was worth a couple of £k per year to my local).

I get better quality real ale at Tesco and half the price. Would drink in the pub if i could have a ciggy by the log fire.

Didn't they used to have smoking and non smoking arears in the 60s /70s ? ...don't know if anyone was around then drinking.

That would be the best solution imo.

Mejor..

I have to agree ,some of the beer ive had on draught in pubs lately has been shabby .

£3 a pint ... not pleasant at all ...

Bottles would cost a fortune . 4 times the price of supermarkets

There as always a bar & a lounge which was usually non-smoking for gentlemen with ladies. The bar was smokey and rough rarely saw a lady in there.

NO NO NO NO AND NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Smoking and non-smoking areas/ bars doesn't work- because there is no safe limit of smoke to secondary smokers - the teeniest weeniest bit can kill- there has to be a total ban.
Dont take my word for it - read the USA's chief medical officers report which led to a total ban in all USA public buildings. Its sad for you guys - but necessary.
Now stop bellyaching and live with this just law which is supported by the vast majority of the UK population.
