the problem with threads like this one is the information in the title - or lack of information ! a list of sportspeople recognised in the british isles will differ considerably from a list recognised in the commonwealth, which would itself differ from a list recognised in the english speaking countries worldwide, which of course will be different from an universally recognised list of top sportspeople.

Tennis at top level ,much like soccer is a sport which is popular over much of the world.

The trouble with cricket,rugby,horseracing ,basketball and ice hockey etc ... is theyre not widely viewed.
